Once human souls which have been bound to this Earthly realm, have become more prominent with the advent of the Demon Lord’s magic. Dying and losing a human body does not normally allow much energy for a ‘newly re-born spirit’ to exercise much will in the material plane but a side effect of the influx of monster girls into modern society seems to have given them at least enough to form a tangible essence and retain most of their human memories.

One often recurring memory is a sense of hunger. As observed with amputees and phantom limbs often still felt like they are present when they are clearly no longer in place, ghosts often express phantom hunger as a remnant of their former physiological function. Much like an ich which cannot be fully scratched, they are often far hungrier than they ever were when alive, particularly if they had lived a life of restraint and denial as is often seen as a form of lingering regret. With their minds stained by these ‘missed opportunities’, the disinhibited ghost is often far more inclined to act upon her new desires. Without a fully tangible body however, they often need to draw the ‘energy’ of such offerings to keep themselves materialized as they wander graveyards and places familiar to them once in life in search of sustenance.

Even with magical assistance, a ghost girl does not have a significant amount of power and may have to take possession of another living human in order to sustain themselves. Once sufficiently strong enough, they may forcibly attempt to unify their thoughts with those of their host, often sending that hunger into overdrive. This is believed to coincide with the recent spike in female obesity observed in town A which was previously constructed across several old graveyards which had been respectfully relocated.

Women possessed by a hungry ghost girl will be filled with an insatiable urge to eat as well as being bombarded by lewd and erotic imagery which increase in intensity as more of her spiritual energy is intertwined. This is thought to be done in order to gradually convince the possessed that their growing bodies are entirely of their own genuine love for food and to build the confidence to be proud of themselves in public. Eventually, after acquiring enough spiritual energy, the ghost may materialize at which point the possessed person’s head would be filled with nothing but thoughts of them and a desire to become just like them. They will gladly continue to sustain and keep eating on their behalf. At this point, the possessed growing fatter can sustain the ghost from an increasing distance as the spirit continues to absorb energy.

It is often said that ‘Ghosts can only move on once their regret in life has been taken care of.’ However, if that regret is ‘I wish I could keep eating tasty things forever’, there is very little incentive for them to move on, or for their host to give up getting fatter on their behalf. As such, there have been no confirmed accounts from the ghosts themselves of any of them ever having moved on, and so we are yet unable to confirm the existence of the afterlife outside of the one involving overflowing a tattered white dress. The messy, long black hair look of some species is often secondary to money being spent on food rather than hair care products.
