I had planned on expanding the request tier next month, but after sitting on it for a while, I can't say it'd be for the best because I have a deadline to meet in the middle of April. That being said, I've been meaning to make this post to clarify limits regarding requests anyway, and it'd be useful to have for when I do get around to expanding the tier too.

Requests are largely stripped down versions of commissions, so I need to enforce the limits better to maintain the cost and time it takes to do them.  Getting into it one at a time:

1 Character Only

I'm not including another character in a request if I can help it. This includes faceless people and bystanders. If you want me to draw at least half of someone's body, I will not accept the request. Floating limbs are fine, just don't get smart about how many floating limbs your request can have, I'm not going to appreciate the joke.

No Color

I, personally, cannot spend time coloring these. I will give it some shading because shading is very easy to do, but I'll generally try to avoid doing something too complex if it takes too much time. You are free to get your request colored by someone else, though, or try coloring it yourself, just don't remove my signature.

No Backgrounds

Unless it's something I can easily convey in a few lines like a sign or a seat or whatever, I'm not drawing a background.

No Character Design

I've been a little lenient with a few past OC requests when they skirt very close to the character design line to be nice, but I'm putting my foot down starting now in enforcing this rule. I will not take your OC request if you want me to...

  • Change a character's outfit entirely (added accessories, simple enough cosplays, or funny joke outfits are fine if you really want to use your request on that, though.)
  • Restyle their hair entirely
  • Change their face dramatically
  • Draw them as a different race (ethnicity, monster characters, fantasy race, etc)

Pretty much, if your character does not have full, preexisting reference art or a reliable 3D model, I will not take the request.

Picrew or other 2D dollmaker type references do not count unless you have a full body reference and are actually okay with how that looks. 3D models include custom models you might have, or customizable 3D characters from video games. If you want me to draw a character from those types of games, just mind the limits listed in my commission post.

Have All References Available Upfront

This problem comes up more often than I expect, so I'll formally set the expectation now. I will not take your request if you can't provide me a character reference and a reference pose for me to start with. The reference pose doesn't need to be dead on what you want, I can take a few artistic liberties there, but please don't ask me to eyeball a pose from scratch.

No Private Requests

Any work related to Patreon will eventually go public, so private requests will not be allowed. I take private commissions, though, so keep that in mind whenever I have time to open commissions.

Alts and Paying for More

I do alts for requests entirely if I feel like it, and if it's easy to do. You cannot negotiate for alts or pay me to do them. Only when commissions are open are you allowed to ask for color or a single alt. I'll charge the small surcharge fee for that during these times.

Removal After 2 Missed Months

This one isn't meant to put pressure on anyone, but if you guys miss the deadline to turn in requests twice in a row, or say you want to skip a month twice in a row, I will be kicking you from the tier. If there is a spot available the next month after, you may rejoin, but repeat behavior will see a permanent kick. I appreciate everyone's support, but I would rather not see request slots be wasted if possible.

Commission Limits Apply

Finally, as I said at the start, requests are really just stripped down versions of commissions. Refer to my commissions post if you ever need to double check what I'm okay with drawing, and make sure to ask first if it what you're thinking of isn't listed in there.

--------

I really hope this all doesn't sound too restricting. I understand if requests suddenly become harder to think up, but this tier was initially conceived with drawing preexisting characters in mind. I'm up for drawing your OC in cool poses, or drawing that piece of fanart you or I wanted to see, but at this point I've received too many vague request details or borderline character design requests. (Don't feel bad if you've done that in the past, though! It's my fault for letting it slide for so long.)

Thanks again for all your support, though, and I hope to see you all stick around!
