The Gift Won't Be This Year (Patreon)

RNG here with some rough news: I need more time for the gift I'm making. However, instead of being vague about it, let me come clean. This game is a My Hero Academia parody Visual Novel called My Heroine Hypnopedia. It's supposed to be a popular show in the world of After School Antics, as all popular media is hypnosis-themed there. Taking place in the hero college U.A., control Deku after the final battle getting caught up in one of Mei's mental experiments.

The game will use Koikatsu models (All from Evaanxd) as sprites and is meant to be a test for what I can do in Ren'Py. It features over 10 ladies and offers four mindsets for each of them during your nights with them. As Midoriya's confidence builds, different actions become unlocked with different ladies (for example, with some characters he'll need to have nerves of steal to kiss, whereas he'll have no hesitation with someone like Ochako).

However... I need more time. I've been working hours on end each day, 12 hours today, on the dialogue while planning the mechanics out. I could try to gun it and get everything done in the next two days, but I need a break. I want to talk with some friends and family for New Years, and I don't want to send you all a half-hearted entry, even if it's just a test.

If you're wondering why I didn't spend this time on After School Antics, it's because we're reworking a crucial part of the game, and I wanted to learn basic Python so I could help Nate when writing the text to save him at least a bit of time.

And I don't expect you to just take my word for it: I've included the first 10 pages of the scripts and the beta testing sprites I made. I'll be slowly finishing the "story" dialogue for the last few days of 2023, and then come January 1st, be gathering all the images from Koikatsu and then turning it into code.

I've already had ideas and characters from this test I've had to cut for time (The beach was going to be a side activity that would unlock Tsuyu, for example). If this game ends up popular with our patrons, I'd be willing to make a DX version with those cut characters and locations. But otherwise, once this test is done, I'll be taking a week or two off, then getting back to After School Antics to get things back on track.
