Ah, Genius. I was thinking about suggesting watching theese three together, the last one is one of if not the most beloved episode in the series. Will have to check out the full version when I get home

LoofBall

oh yes, three part special. here we go ^_^

CacoMetal

Ladies. I don't know how this is possible, but when I received the email notification of your reaction to these episodes and saw the thumbnail I was immediately emotional. I was always sensitive but I surprise myself by connecting with how you experience emotions and it feels like watching the series again from scratch. Thank you! A lot of love from Santiago, Chile. Three episodes in a row from now on? hehehehehe

Snowman9712

Carissa always cries, but when Haylee cries, you know it's sad af hahaha

Green Hog

Pfff I would never cry over this, but coincidentally I just get dust in my eyes every time I watch these episodes for some reason.

Green Hog

Who got it worse so far? Sanji or Nami? Nami in my opinion, because it was a constant, never ending pain, while Sanji’s was only for that one period when he was younger.

Baker

This stretch of episodes is when the series puts the hooks in and never lets go. The show's dealt with dark backstories, imagery and themes before but this is when the wheels came off and the series started to take itself a bit more seriously. I think the reason it hits more in the anime is that the build up to Nami's famous "help me" scene is much more weighted. You feel Nami and Nojiko's connection to Bellemere more, their connection to each other more and Nami's sacrifice to the village more. Couple that with how the anime makes Luffy's first proper serious moment so definitive and cathartic you can't help but feel super excited and emotional. Nami now doesn't have to shoulder it alone and she has someone strong and capable who will always have her back. Arlong has no idea what he's opened up.

Snowman9712

You have 8 episodes left until you reach the finale of Live Action season 1. I really really hope that you will keep going, because I'm really looking forward to your One Piece reactions each week. I don't want to miss that

Syafiq

Iconic walk!!

Chris M

PLEASE tell us you are going to continue past Live Action S1. I’m loving these reactions and your journey falling in love with the Straw Hats.

TOOKIE

3 episodes??? What did we do to deserve this 😭 its not even payday. What a treat 😍 this was a turning point in one piece that dropped a anchor ⚓ in everyone's hearts and got hooked 🎣 Never have I wanted to break a nose like I do now with Arlongs 🪚👃

Peter Amet

I'd like to add my voice that even waiting for Live Action, there's dozens of eps you can watch. Up till end of Warship Island at least will only be 1 ep of S2. Warship won't be in the Live Action and Lougetown will be 1 ep for sure with lots cut. So you could watch two more arcs and only 'ruin' the first episode of the LA which btw isn't even filming yet :( BUT i'd also love you guys to just keep going forever with the anime.

NUCKY

Nami voice actor deserved an Oscar for that scene.

Salman '96

Im really glad they watched 3 straight, episode 37 is a must watch immediately with the others because after all that tension and build up episode 37 is where it all comes together in such an epic way that makes you love the series to the point of no return, once you reach this point theres no turning back

Adam Aucoin

Glad you mentioned Namis voice acting, it really is one of the best moments in anime that scene.

MAY

Crying in my office as I watch this at work 😭

Alexander

This is the exact moment where we all at one point want to be part of the Strawhats 🔥❤

Probably the best part about the anime version of Nami and Luffy's scene is that Luffy doesn't know anything about Nami's past and helps her simply because he believes in her. This fact makes the scene a little different from the live-action since in the Netflix adaptation, he heard Nami's backstory. It also changes the meaning of the hat scene in a really subtle way.

Blackfyre5490

I give the LA version credit, they did Nami's "Help Me" scene justice, but to me the anime/manga version will always be the best. In the LA Luffy knew Nami's backstory, in this he didn't know and didn't care. His friend was in trouble, and he was gonna help no matter what.

fr0st

I love so much that Luffy literally doesn't know or care about what the problem or history is, all he knows is that someone has made his friend cry and he needs to go kick someone's ass immediately

fr0st

I think the Live Action is a bit weaker for making it so that Nojiko doesn't know (so the sisters have had no relationship all this time) and the villagers are also in the dark. It's so much more powerful if they know and are pretending because they don't want to weigh Nami down if she ever decided to just make a run for it

fr0st

Also I don't think it needs to be said, but adding a +1 to please continue watching (you can skip fillers and make pretty good time as long as you want) and I think after you finish this arc, you'll see that the LA and anime are different enough to make it worth experiencing the full emotional spectrum and silliness of the anime as well and you can still enjoy the live action later

Goon

the drums of liberation playing as the gang heads into battle for our dear Nami. :'D

Hertog

Need you guys to react to Frieren asap

klairvoyance

Man I love One Piece

Andre

I hope you guys notice some of the scenes of the live-action were a direct 1:1 drafted from these in the anime from Luffy yelling out loud "Of course I will" to the boys posing as he's walking past them.

Andrew Kelly

Nami's "Help me" scene never fails to bring tears to my eyes. This backstory really truly made me fall in love with this show all those years ago. I hope yall continue to watch along past the end of the Live Action because there is truly no better time to be a One Piece fan than now, and im sure the community would love to see more of your reactions further along.

Lucas Hilliker

You guys always give me such a huge boost to my mental health! Love seeing you guys react to some of my favorite anime!

Emily

I hope you guys continue watching the anime after catching up to where the live action ends! This show truly just continues to get better and you both will love it so much

Jazil Immer Onganiza

I'm bawling my eyes out all over again with that scene 😭

Ikado

Also "Overtaken" one of the best OST ever made.

Jonathan Charles

Such a simple gesture, putting your hat on someone you recently met. Brilliant writing, and the wild part is that Oda has kept up the quality for nearly 3 decades.

Kitsune Inferno

I wanted to say this earlier when talking about Nami and Nojiko's relationship differences in the live-action and the anime, but I think the biggest reason why Nojiko doesn't know about what Nami's up to is because the confrontation scene and reveal about Nami's sacrifice over Bellemere's grave is a really important character moment, and in the live action, they give the heavy lifting of that emotional scene to the adult actors instead of the children. Nami and Nojiko's actors do such a good job with the gravedigging scene. It's easier to give emotional scenes to children in anime when it's usually the same actress with a higher pitched voice, or at the very least, another adult woman, versus live action where you have to somehow win the lottery on child actor casting (they nailed it with Sanji though) It's still not a perfect change by any means, the original definitely wins in emotional resonance, but understandable when you consider those logistics.

Orange cookies

And that’s just the beginning…we’re just getting started ladies🙂

A.E Gearic

Ya’ll are quickly becoming one of my favorite One Piece reactors. Like, no joke :) I was having a hard day at work, but I suddenly had a big smile on my face when I saw this One Piece reaction posted. Hope to see these more :D and I hope you both continue to love these episodes, because TRUST ME when I say this (seriously TRUST ME) ya’ll have seen nothing yet. It only gets better and better.

Vaby da Kat

More is better 😁✌️

rina.

This little crew is going places!

Dale Cooper

What is wild is there are way more emotional moments in this series. Oda plays with people's hearts too damn much.

Minik

The first of many walks to “insert place”

Duncan McDuff

The emotional arc, in a single scene, of Nami accepting that she needs help, acknowledging that Luffy can help her, realizing that Luffy is her true friend, and Luffy patiently allowing her to go through that process, even though he could have butted in long before, is so powerful. Luffy is so endearing because of this quality. He never oversteps his role as a friend, he just simply is there for people when they need him. It's a theme that shows up time and time again, and never fails to bring out the waterworks.
