E33 - Usopp Dead?! When Is Luffy Going to Make Landfall?!
E34 - Everyone's Gathered! Usopp Speaks the Truth About Nami!

We should've had more faith in Nami! 😋 Loved that plot twist so much!! Honestly can't believe they removed that from the live-action. That was such a great moment building on her character.

Thanks SO much for being here on Patreon. Until the next one!

Out of all the characters on Arlong's crew, Hachi is a goofball. Btw in order to have the best experience with the story beats I think it might be a good idea to watch 35, 36, and 37 in a row. It's not critical though because the arc ends on 44 which is also a nice stopping point, but 45 is the last episode adapted by the Live Action.

Body IS ready for backstory of many charactere in one pièce ;)

Hatchan not being in the live action was a travesty for multiple reasons but primarily because he's the only somewhat likeable member of Arlong's crew. Also this arc really captures the full crew dynamic perfectly, those moments with Zoro and Sanji bickering like brothers and Zoro's absolute loyality and belief in Luffy's decision making, Usopp being the slapstick comical foil, Nami's care and love for her newfound friends and of course Luffy just being Luffy. Even in the thick of it, they're who they are and you can see the bond they're creating evolving and growing by the moment. Now for the Bellemere flashback, time to get the tissues ready

It is really difficult to wait ☺

Snowman9712

They said they are always about a week ahead, so they're likely at 38 already

NUCKY

Can we have 3 episodes on Thursday? it would be a perfect stop.

Ben Harth

Get yourself some tissues for the next episodes...no matter how many times I watch them, tears start rolling

I had forgotten how good Cocoyashi village arc actually is on the anime. You girls have to keep watching the anime so the LA doesn’t spoil the story

I loved the live action, but it doesnt hold a candle to the anime with this arc.

Kitsune Inferno

When the live action was originally announced, it was for 10 episodes, and there's evidence that the episodes were at least written before being cut down to 8, and two of the original episodes were merged into what we got as Episode 7. Episode 7 is credited to two separate writing duos (total of four writers altogether). That's part of why I think Arlong Park feels so rushed and incomplete in the live action.

Kitsune Inferno

Hachi technically is in the live action, they just changed him from an Octopus fishman to that one with the bubble on his forehead. Not my Hachi though haha. Hachi was ultimately cut because it would have been really expensive and impractical to do the six arms effect without CGI. There's an interview with I think Steven Maeda (might have been Matt Owens?) discussing his regret in not having Hachi along that goes into what their plans for him were, but that's best reviewed after the arc.

This arc is definitely 10x more powerful and sad than in the live action. I hate that they made it so that Nojiko doesn't know in the LA. In the anime, Nojiko is clearly a safe harbour for Nami who has no other place to let her guard down and just be safe and loved. It also means that the sisters basically have no relationship in the LA because they've been estranged for eight years and as soon as Nojiko knows, Nami's leaving again.

"You think you know what's happening, but it's always better" sums up one piece pretty nicely lol

great reactions as usual, i wish u guys would react till until Alabasta arc which is most likely the 2nd season of LA. then you guys can react on the Live action and get to compare it with the anime. i think that would be a great reverse experience.

Regie Khemvisay

i know, kuro had more time than Arlong. it shouldve been 10 episodes. its just the 2nd most expensive show of Netflix, why not go all out. maybe for s2 theyll make it longer since there are more fans now than last year

Baker

Yeah I agree, though it seems like "just stopping" is going to be hard for them seeing how much they're enjoying the anime lol. Here's hoping they do a poll after Arlong or announce they're continuing, wouldn't even mind if they cut the sagas up and took breaks in-between to watch shorter shows. Might make the 1000+ episodes bit more digestible.
