It's a shame they never got to fit ChouChou's story into the live action in some way since it's such a great early establishment of the kind of character Luffy is and also the emotional tone the series has at times. That being said it also would've been near impossible to pull off the brutality Richie the lion does to the poor dog in live action without it being just too much. Also I don't think they could've replicated the fantastic voice acting of the original actors delivery, that moment when they go "Ruff" was really powerful.

In the live action buggy episode, the dog has a small appearance at the end. Also one thing the live action didn't show well is how strong Luffy is even at this point

A few years ago there was a worldwide poll conducted for people to choose the 100 Greatest One Piece characters of all time. Chouchou was #100. The little guy was only in the story for a brief moment but made that big of an impact, showing the love and loyalty only dogs are capable of.

Just so you both know, Oda (the creator of One Piece) confirmed that the One Piece is not "the friends you made along the way." He confirmed it is something tangible. Great reactions as always! :)

The editors also recently discussed how they know so I think the final arc and ending speculation is true it's a few years at most from the ending I think.

Yeah, it's kind of clever because it's the right fist that you can't see but Buggy is clenching and unclenching his left so you're like "his hands are there" but it's hiding the reveal

I promise you, this will not be the last time you meet an animal and hear its backstory and then cry about it. This show is so good with setting up these emotional stakes and Luffy never disappoints. For a relatively simple-minded guy, he has strong ideas about saving others and their dreams/treasures!

Do yall know about the IRL Japanese dog Hachiko, who waited for years every day at the train station for his owner to come home, after he died while away for work? P sure Chouchou is based on him, it's an amazing story
