some animation looks different because they have mixed up styles on top of the improvement of animation since they started the anime 24/25 years ago. one piece ha an amazing diverse world and its tons of fun being with the crew to explore it all.

Well, there are definitely spoilers in this, not story wise, but a lot of the scenery hits much harder in the context of the story and I think part of the experience is seeing it for the first time without knowing about it. Then again, as far as spoilers go this isn't too bad. Enjoy

The thing about One Piece is, where other fictional stories often take inspiration from specific settings or mythos, One Piece takes inspiration from literally everything. So we end up with the beautiful crazy-ass mess that we see here. There's something for everyone.

This is the greatest adventure ever told. Lord of the Rings held the top spot for the longest time.... until about a year ago once I caught up with One Piece. One Piece has one of the greatest stories set within undoubtedly the greatest world building narrative ever created. It's hard to believe that it's all out of the head one person.

Yes, actual scenes and locations from the show (and they look a bit different sometimes because the beginning of the anime has a bit of a rougher style and it gets more refined after a while). It's gone on for a long time so part of it is also just animation techniques becoming more crisp and "new-looking". Would love for you guys to just keep watching the anime because there's A LOT to enjoy (even if you skip fillers).

I forgot to mention, some scenes from this are from the One Piece movies which are all phenomenal. I can get you a link to the page that lets you know the order to watch them as well as when to watch them based on what episode you're on in the anime. Lots of mentioned characters from the anime are shown in the movies and vice versa so I recommend watching them.

The art style progresses, and continually changes slightly back and forth since different animation teams will take turns creating the show. The first animation art style to me is charming, nostalgic and feels very close to my heart especially with the 90s type anime aesthetic, but that one never comes back. You're seeing that one right now since it's the beginning and witnessing an important piece of animation history 😭
