Luffy: So, she's a good guy...So she's a bad guy 🤣🤣🤣 I'm gonna rant now about Garp. I did not like what they did with him in the live action series at all. They basically changed his character completely and introduced him way too early. He just seemed off in the live action and did not enjoy his character there at all. Well, I'll stop there, so it's a mini rant. As y'all have said, this episode shows that he's a lot more like Luffy than the live action shows lol

The mysterious Miss All-Sunday makes her debut. What are her motivations? Is she secretly a good guy, is she truly working for Baroque Works, or is she a third party with her own intentions? Off to Little Garden! What wonders and horrors await at the mysterious island? What makes Miss All-Sunday so sure we will be wiped out before we make it to Alabasta? The rumored explanation for Garp's strange hat is that his design was based on a character from an earlier work by the same author. This character was the main character's grandfather. The author was worried the audience would make the connection if they saw his whole design so he put a hat on Garp to maintain some secrecy.

love how Nami keeps the boys in check. Lol

Miss All-Sunday! And Little Garden! One of my favorite characters and one of my favorite arcs. I really hope y’all love this bit of the story

garp wears that hat/hood so that you can't see his face and realize his relationship to luffy. in the LA they gave him the hat but it just looks oddly placed, since they revealed him so early.

A lot goes unsaid with Garp, and I think if you wanted to condense his character arc a bit, the way he was portrayed in the live action wasn't bad. They did take away some of his silly and outlandish behavior, but they shined a light on his core character. Based on the way the live action ended, it seems like they're going to skip from Arlong to Chopper so if they waited to introduce Garp it would have been a lot harder and would have really left the "Coby" character undeveloped.

There already was a glimpse of a hint in the episode on Miss All Sunday's devil fruit abilities, but I won't tell anything more about it. In the german version she was called Miss Bloody Sunday for some reason. I like that name more, because it sounds a bit more threatening, especially if you are watching this as a little child ;)

Damn, after all that comedy with Mr.0's name reveal and the Unluckies, that "nuke" was quite intense. You've almost fallen off your chairs 😂 What's the opposite for "comedic relief"? xd I think Coby is a representation of how Luffy should be an inspiration for us. He's the first person Luffy meets in the anime after all, an allegory for viewer. We should and we are all admiring our captain :D Finally you meet the real Garp :D He's such a badass I made a custom t-shirt with a screencap of him and I proudly wear it XD LA did him a little dirty, he's way too serious there.

The Colby story is happening as weeks go by. You are watching them from shortly after Luffy left him to probably past where you are in the current story. Since it isn't the main storyline you can see their future actions in this part.

Hiighbreed

IDK if anyone has brought this up but you two should have a little mini game in the middle of each episode. Just guess who's wanted poster will pop up in the mid transition scene.

Shockwave BTK

hmmm watch these girls boil lol

Well, they don't share enough of a resemblance for their relationship to be obvious on sight, however before One Piece's serialization Oda wrote several "pilot chapters" and the one called "Romance Dawn v2" already had Garp in it, already revealed as his grandpa, but playing the role of Shanks instead.

I'm glad you recognize how different anime/manga Garp is to the LA. I would argue Garp is the worst done in the LA (no shade to the actor, I just mean how he was written). In the LA he seems kind of psychopathic, but here he seems like a fun but dumb guy. Assuming you didn't know he was related to Luffy, you would be questioning how this man who fell asleep and got attacked by a prisoner is a Vice-Admiral, much less a hero of the Navy.
