Hi guys, here's a preview of what you can expect for September!

If you've been following my Instagram account you might already be up to date, but here it is anyway:

This  release is going to be themed around the Teutonic Knights during the  Northern Crusades, specifically during the Prussian Crusade in the early  13th century.

Most people  are familiar with the Crusades to the Holy Land during the Middle Ages;  others know of the Reconquista, in what are now Spain and Portugal,  which was another form of medieval crusade. In contrast, the crusades that took place around the Baltic Sea during the same period are less well known. But these invasions had a profound impact upon the  subsequent history of all the states that surround the Baltic Sea.

The release should be structured like this:

  • 10 brother knights on foot
  • 10 brother sergenats on foot
  • 1 mounted commander

For the knights, I researched surcoats and decided I should make them all similar. I ended up chosing the long sleeved version: all brethren were in fact ordered to  dress in a humble and sober fashion, so it makes sense that they would  cover as much of their armor as possible.

The brother knights also had to wear white mantles as a sign of knighthood, so I decided  that they should all have one. Because of this I actually simulated all of  the clothing in Marvelous Designer, and I think I'm doing so for each model, it just looks too good.

The knights are going to be armed with shield and sword, and those with axes and maces will always have a sword at the belt.

I'm trying to incorporate some more dynamic poses into this release, alongside my more static poses, to have a nice mix of both. Right now I have all the knights done, and I'm starting to work on the sergeants. They're going to be lightly armored, so without any chainmail but only with padded aketons and open faced helmets. This one also has padded gloves,  inspired by depictions found in the Morgan-Maciejowski Bible.
I thought the covered mouth could work well in portraying the harsh cold climate of the Baltic region.
They are armed with spear and shield, but I'm debating whether or not to  have them carry axes or maces on the belt.

If you want you can see turnaround for these models and for one of the sergeants on my Instagram page. Would love to hear your thoughts on these! Everything should come out before the end of the month.
