Finally, the day you've all been waiting for. The new release of another chapter of Ozark Tales is here! This one is all about civil war stories and Spanish treasures. The mystique of times gone by invites to dream and, more importantly, to drift to sleep. This is where you will face a tough decision, as these intriguing aspects of local history can only be learned through diligent listening, and yet the soft firelight and my gentle voice will continue to tug at your consciousness and, with each passing minute, work to pull you into blissful sleep. The hypnotic binaural reading and slow, soft hand movements guarantee relaxation, no matter your choice.
I certainly learned a lot reading these stories and given how much time I spent listening to them just during the process of making this video, this piece of history will surely stay with me for a long time.

Quality control has deemed this 4th version of the video acceptable. V1 had quality issues due to the b roll being the wrong resolution, V2 was rejected due to slight dubbing flaws, V3 had to be reworked a little due to shutter speed flickering, but after applying a hotfix, V4 is finally watchable. You may notice a slight motion blur where I move the book. Due to camera angles and having to reach around a tripod to film this section, it was difficult to keep it super steady and the hotfix exacerbates that. I hope it is not too distracting, though I think most of you will be asleep before the clips in question even appear. I think this is the longest I've consecutively worked on one video, but then again most of the work was done during mercury retrograde so why am I even surprised.
You know you edit too much when you develop a grading system for quality control. There's A for Absolutely flawless - that never happens. B for Bare Minimum - for when there are a few, hardly noticeable flaws but the overall quality is still top notch. C for Could use finetuning - mostly for dubbing, cropping, timing or visual flaws. And then D for Do it again, when part of the footage is unusable and has to be reshot. On the very rare occasion, but not as much anymore because I have become selective with my projects, there has also been F for Fuck everything about this. Those are projects that I've dropped because I didn't even care that much about them. With this series, you won't have to worry about it, as I am very keen to see it through (and have already pre-recorded all the A roll like 7 months ago). Funny enough, I have started Ozark Tales 4 before 3, as I have actually finished rough cutting and started voice recording for it before I realized I had skipped an entire chapter. It's tricky to find the right footage when you record an entire book over two or three nights.

The next chapter will be Outlaw Stories! I hope you look forward to the next Ozark Tales release and until then, sleep soundly to stories of gold, silver and other valuables. 🕯️
