Long story short in case it could be quite a lot to read.

This story has come to a bad end, and the outcome is that they simply could not get the data back for me.

So for now, I just have to move on and work from my older laptop's external hdd and current desktop's internal SSD.  My main desktop SSD that windows runs from is fine and has some data backed up that has been very helpful.
I will still request to get my broken HDD returned since it has been offered to be returned to me.

Lesson learned. Got another HDD to backup my current data to.

Always try to back up your important computer data. To a cloud service and/or to a HDD/SSD etc, whatever it may be.

Thank you.

Hello Viper. Some cloud storage providers can be pricy, but if there were not many changes, there used to be website providers that had fair use unlimited ftp server space possible. Tbh. didnt check if its still like that now. But could be an alternative. Downside thou, they likelly dont do that many restore points for data recovery.

check out something like "glacier" it is pure backup, it takes a couple days to get the data, but if you just need a fallback, it is worth looking int.
