1. Rough sketch with thick pencil

2. Final sketch

3. Inking. I also inked the pentacle flat so that I could export it separately.

4. Basic block color. I distorted the pentacle onto the floor and put another copy up in the air so people can see the parts of the incantation hidden behind the characters. (It's written in the Theban alphabet.)

5. Form shading. I used a dark blue layer with color burn, set to a high opacity for darker shadows.

6. Underlight. For the underlighting, light cast by the pentacle, I used a medium red, set to screen.

7. I combined the form shading and underlight.

8. Added the shiny to the catsuit, hair, and eyes.

9. Colored linework.

10. Eyelashes and blush. For the eyelashes, I stroke in thick black lashes, then stroke in few thin slices of lighter grey on top, to create depth and shape.

11. Magic grip. I used a variable width brush on a solid red layer, set to a low fill. I added inner and out glow layer effects. I put that layer into a folder and edited the mask for the folder to clip out the parts of the magic concealed by the characters.

12. Magic seam. I drew a squiggly line over the seam and used the smudge tool to make streaks coming out of it.

13. Pentacle glow. I copied the pentacle and applied the motion blur filter to the copy. Then I stretched it out, adjusted the levels, and distorted it for a widening shape. Then I erased the parts that went below the pentacle.
