Heya everyone. Thought I would share this here as well, since I know there are aspiring authors amongst you.

My friend D.Winchester, of
Tenebroum fame, invited me to help him organise an event to make a Horror Anthology for Halloween. It will be structured sort of like a competition, with a total of four prices (1st, 2nd, 3rd, & Readers' Choice) that total $110 in prizes. The main goal of the event is to bring more attention to the Horror Genre on RoyalRoad, as it is woefully under-represented, despite being quite popular.

Anyway, here is the announcement message. I hope to see you participate, as I will be one of the judges (although I'm participating too, though ineligible to win of course) :D

----------------------------------

Hello writers!

Halloween is almost here, and this year we are having a short story contest sponsored by the Authors Guild! What we are looking for are short horror stories (2000-3000 words please) in line with our theme of "CreepyPasta".

$50 for 1st place, $25 for 2nd place, $10 for 3rd place, and $25 for People's Choice. A panel of D. Winchester, M.G. Driver, and Dosei will be the judges, as we are also sponsoring and organizing this event.

If you are unaware of what a Creepypasta is you should familiarize yourself by reading a few here (https://mashable.com/article/creepypastas) or here (https://www.creepypasta.com/).

As long as your story is related to the theme it can be about whatever you like, but that should not include: any on screen violence toward children or pets; sexual content can be okay depending on the theme of the story, but should be limited to what you might find in an "R" rated movie rather than anything more explicit; and sexual violence is not allowed in any forms.

Previously-published stories are not allowed to participate. So make sure it's original and new!

All entries should be sent to SpookyShorts@proton.me as attachments (Doc, Docx, or RTF). Please include a link to your RoyalRoad and/or ScribbleHub account in the body of the email so you can be credited and have your existing work linked to.

All submissions that abide by all of the rules and are received by midnight October 22nd will be posted in a random order 10 minutes apart on Halloween night, and we will allow a week for voting before determining the winner.

Thank you in advance for participating!
