Animations for sex scenes have been a highly requested feature since the initial release of the game.  Since animations have been so highly requested, I decided to make this a public post separate from the normal patron only development updates on Tuesdays.   Now that I have access to more resources, I was able to determine how possible animations are to add into the game, and around when they can be expected.

Included at the bottom of this post, is a proof of concept scene.  It's short, and not as detailed as animated scenes will be, but it shows that it is possible for animated scenes to be included in the game.

The good news, is that I more or less have access to all of the plugins, scripts, and similar tools needed to make the scenes and put them in the game.  I will need to spend a few more weeks getting better at some of the more specifics of making the animations, since some scenes will require things like wings, tails, and other body parts to be moved during the animation in order to prevent clipping and strange limb positions from getting in the way of the scene.  I will also want to try and have custom/dynamic facial expressions during these animations to make the girls more expressive in them if possible.  All of this will take time for me to learn how to do, but I will eventually learn how to do these things.

However, despite what it might sound like, there are still some things preventing me from being able to start adding animations into the game once the skills needed are learned.

Let me first say, that even though animations are still some time away from being added in the game, development, and development time of V0.1.4 and beyond will not be put on hold or impacted for animations.  The following issues only affect when animations can be included in the game, not when more game updates are released.  Development of V0.1.4 and future updates will still go on as normal.

Also, for those wondering, animations will be optional once added in.  So those who like the scenes as they are won't need to worry about them changing to animations if they don't want them.  If you don't care about animations, you likely don't need to read past this point.

Now, on to what is preventing animations from being added into the game.

The biggest problem, and only real problem, is the hardware for my computer.  Just making this one animation caused some overheating, programs freezing, and took longer than I would like.  I also had to restart the process several times before I could get it to work.  Any scenes with multiple girls in it (which there will be many of by the end of the game's development), will likely be too much for my computer to handle when it comes to making animations for those scenes.  Now, my computer works fine for what I have been using it for, and I expect to be able to keep developing the game as I have been, but it is a few years old, and only slightly above the minimum specs needed to make the types of animations I would need/want to.  I would prefer to not risk overheating my computer too much, and risk damaging it, Which could bring development, and everything else I use it for to a halt.

I should also note, that depending on when I can start adding animations in, development time will be noticeably impacted.  Although a decent amount of the time making this scene was from having to restart the process, and then my computer making the .webm file, even after upgrading my computer, making animations for a regular scene in the game will take a few hours from opening the character studio, to getting the .webm files for each scene created.  More complex and/or lengthy scenes that require things like wings, tails, and other things to be adjusted throughout the animation to prevent clipping can take up to several days to make with the amount of time I can dedicate to developing this game.

Despite these issues, animations for the game are not off the table.  It's just a matter of when, not if at this point.

Once I can upgrade my computer, I can revisit animations for the game, and likely start adding them into the game.  However, if I can not devote more time to developing this game than I already can when I am ready to add in animations, I will ask patrons how they want development time to be handled.  I.E., would they want to keep normal development times, and save animations for when I have more time to dedicate to making updates so they won't impact development time, or if they want an increased development time for animations to be added in each update.

Regardless of when animations will be added in, development of Rise of Corruption in relation to the current state of animations will not be impacted.  You can still expect V0.1.4 to be developed as usual, and for future updates to be the same.

It's simple and it works. Good enough for me.
