I feel like the concerns about negative uses of the platform were skirted over too quickly. We should ask ourselves why certain collectors - say for example the super rich of the Iranian diaspora - are attracted by the platform's features. When highlighting the fact Foundation is more inclusive, we must explore all the reasons why certain people are excluded by the established art market. The Sobhani case in February shone a spotlight on the realities of money laundering in Iran. The ongoing Zhao Dong case also highlights the centrality of Etherium in money laundering in China. Artists should be very wary of the realities of why certain people would like to have their work as a poorly traceable store of value that often operates outside of national financial regulations.

its an interesting point, it would be cool to have someone on to talk about art investment more generally as of course the store of value/cross border laundering potential is common in physical art sales, and arguably less traceable in traditional environments than being present not only on a blockchain, but a forum where the sales are public and promoted. IIRC there was an insane book years ago written by an academic in Minnesota talking about art sales and international terror groups that could be worth a conversation. Will have to read more about the Zhao Dong case, but I think generally there is no avoiding that scams and laundering will be present in tandem with a new financial system, which doesn't necessarily invalidate the net benefits of that system. I think the broader point left uncovered that you allude to is that while there are legit claims that NFT protocols are giving people more access to create such markets, over time it would be nice to see these and other ideas develop different conceptions of what art support looks like.
