Great review as always! Fun fact, not only was Survivor Series 1 week before this PPV, but WWE also held the Armageddon PPV 2 weeks later, including a ladder match featuring The Hardy Boyz and MNM.

I knew you guys wouldn't think this was a bad as everyone says. I think that for the time it was kind of shockingly bad and disappointing, and that initial reaction has stuck around for a long time, even as WWE and TNA both went on to have much worse shows afterwards. If you REALLY want a legendary bad show that "holds up" as being incredibly terrible, nWo Souled Out 97 is the one to go to. Bad wrestling, godawful shit booking with "evil ref" shenanigans in almost every single match, a nearly TEN MINUTE Jeff Jarrett vs IRS match, and of course the Ms nWo contest, which I believe to be the worst thing ever aired on mainstream professional wrestling television.

Heyman evidently spent the entire show telling Vince "Pulling out Sabu, people are gonna hate this whole match. They're gonna hate it." And when people DID hate it, Vince fired him. So I kinda do feel bad for Paul.

Hearing Tazz on commentary for this and then watching AEW Dark with him and Excalibur is like night and day. He's way better live now than he was then and you could tell the edits on Smackdown sort of saved the commentary back then.

When you eventually do the Botchamania episode; you should watch Shelly Martinez (Arial) vs Rebel from TNA. Legendarily bad match and the Botchamania clip on it is very good

"Rebels" "Extremists". I don't know much about the revival of ECW other than what is covered by How2 and AE Podcast, but my god it has such transparent "work shopped corporate brainstorming" energy.
