Warning: Mushy stuff ahead.

TLDR: Sabre <3's you and is now full time game dev!

Let me start by saying thank you. Thank you for showing me people want to play the things I make. Thank you for giving me the motivation and inspiration to continue working on games. Thank you for your feedback, your help, and your patience. Thank you for everything.

I started this Patreon in 2017 with the idea for Uncommon Breed and the dream of becoming a full time game dev. I'd come home from my day job and teach myself how to draw, write, and code to make it a reality. From the beginning, I had incredible support that I never could have imagined. Kind words and motivation that kept me going through any self doubt or hard times.

After getting the opportunity to collab with different artists I knew I wanted to use what I learned while making Uncommon Breed to make something even more special for you. A game that would provide something unique for the community. And so, the idea for Lust was born.

For a long time I worked on Lust in the dark. I didn't want to garner attention or support for something I didn't know if I was capable of making. I searched for like-minded artists who could see my vision and were willing to take time out of their busy schedule to help me create it. I poured my time, soul, and money into making Lust with the belief that it could be something special.

Finally, after more than a year of development, I was ready to show you guys what I'd been working on. I launched Lust's first alpha build and... it broke (for many of you).

*Que Sabre Stress*

I felt awful. Many of you began supporting me only to get an unplayable game. I knew I needed to get Lust into a stable state and quick. So I'd stay up until 5-6AM fixing bugs and then woke at 8 to go to work. It was pretty hectic.

But through all the stress I could see my dreams coming true. An overwhelming amount of support flooded my Patreon and I began to think 'This is it. This is my shot'. Old and new faces (I'm looking at you Discord homies) began to appear in my life to help me on this new journey. They helped and continue to help me build a foundation on which the game and community can grow. For them I am forever grateful.

So, as of yesterday morning, I decided I'm going to take my shot. I quit my job of 5 years to give Lust, Uncommon Breed, and you my undivided attention.

I'm both the happiest and most terrified I've ever been in my life. But I'm ready for whatever is to come. I promise I will work hard to be worthy of your support.

So again, thank you. Without you I wouldn't have had the courage to take the leap and none of this would be possible. You've changed my life and I will never be able to put into words what that means to me.

I love you all,

Sabre

Even if lust at first wasn't perfect I found it wonderful! Nothing is perfect when first made especially games haha. But that's what betas and alpha stages are for! And you did a wonderful job! Really you inspired me to also start my motivation back on and try to pursue one of my dreams. I am as of now trying to get to learn photoshop and accumulating money to be able to buy a decent pen tablet. I'm also looking forward to going back to school and learn the ways of a character designer. When my skills are good enough I'll show you my work and perhaps I could even work in collaboration with you and others 😄 Keep up the good work! And remember always look forward and keep being true to yourself and find your own happiness!
