I bring you another film effect that perfectly works with animation, the "zolly zoom", "zolly shot" or "vertigo effect". Popular on Vertigo of Jaws movies, maybe you´ll remember it from Disney´s The Lion King. The zoom effect basically makes the entire image bigger or smaller, everything on scene scales at once. The camera movement forward or backward is called dolly. When the camera dollies the elements grow or shrink proportionally to the distance with the camera. The zolly effect ingeniously synchronises opposite zoom and dolly to make the elements grow and shrink at the same time.

This trick breaks the nature of optics so the effect is highly dramatic. It can be combined with contrasting shadows for a more dramatic look.
