Waking Up

Yae was hugging my right arm and sleeping when I woke up. Unable to move my body thanks to that, I waited for time to pass by counting prime numbers and thinking about the menu so that I don't pay attention to the sensation of the something that is in contact with my right arm.

"......nn......nnn......."

Around after more than 30 minutes based on my body clock, Yae started wriggling about. When I turn my face to the right because of that, perhaps she is still half-asleep, she has dazed eyes.

"Morning......why is Kazu-kun around......?"

"Good morning, Yae. Those are my words if I had to say though"

Perhaps she didn't understand the meaning of what I'm saying, Yae is staring over at my face. When I stare back at Yae's eyes as well, perhaps she is gradually coming back to her senses, her eyes start focusing.

"!!!?!?!?"

"Watch out!"

Perhaps she got the situation, Yae releases my right hand and jumps up. However, because, on top of being flustered, she was sleeping at the edge in the first place, Yae loses her balance and nearly falls from the bed. I immediately get up, pull her arm with my right hand, place my left hand on her back, and pull Yae's body to me.

It is a miraculous reaction when you consider my athletism though; I wonder if it is because Yae was in danger. I breathe a sigh of relief while thinking that 'an adrenaline rush really does exist huh'. 

"Are you alright?"

"U-, un. I am alright, so uh......"

"Ah, sorry"

It may have been to save Yae, but I am in a state where I am embracing Yae. Having that pointed out, I flusteredly but gently move my hand away from Yae's body.

"......."

"......."

An awkward atmosphere is hanging between us. Perhaps even Yae is embarrassed as well, her face is crimson red. I do not know if it is because of what just happened or because we were sleeping together though.

On the other hand, I think my cheeks are also dyed red. As for why, it is because my cheeks are hot, and the sound of my heartbeat is fiercely audible.

The hug just now is something we often do compared to sleeping together. It's just that, Yae is sheepish after that this time around. My heart ended up throbbing at the her which is different from always.

"Spe-, speaking of which, why is Yae in my bed?"

"Tha-, that is......!"

I thought about doing something about this mood and asked the reason she was sleeping with me, and Yae ended up blushing even redder and going silent. How do I say this, it is throwing me off.

"Is it alright for me to say my deduction?"

"......un"

"Last night, Yae woke up after I fell asleep. And you went all the way to the living room in order to drink some tea, did you not?"

"......un"

"You would just go back to sleep after that normally, but there was a thunderstorm yesterday night. When you were about to return, a bolt of lightning ended up striking nearby coincidentally, and the frightened Yae came to my side. That is what I think happened; how about it?"

"......un"

It was quite a horrible thunderstorm last night. Hence, I put Yae to sleep in her room as always, but it looks like she ended up waking up. In the end, she ended up doing something that is iffy for a girl to do which is sneaking into my bed, but I suppose there is no way I can blame her.

Nevertheless, Yae is meek as a lamb huh. Her words which are few to begin with have further lessened. I guess that is probably how embarrassed she is this time around.

"Well, it cannot be helped huh. I understand it is something that rarely ever happens, but please be careful. We have been living together for a long time, but as far as it goes, I am also a man"

"......un"

"Alright then, I will go and make breakfast, so Yae, please go back to your own room and get changed"

"Ah, wait"

When I stood up from the bed in order to the leave the room, I was called to a stop by Yae. When I turned back, wondering what it was, Yae who stood up the same hugged me from the front.

"......thanks"

Yae, who has crimson red cheeks as opposed to her usual expressionless-ness, peeks over at my face from below and says. After dumbfoundedly seeing off Yae who hurriedly leaves the room at the same time as she finished saying that single sentence, I take a deep breath alone.

For the whole day today, it looks like I will not be able to look straight at Yae's face huh.
