So, not all of the models I've created are the intellectual property of others. Some are neutral items covered in the DnD SRD or homebrewed ideas. These would technically be safe for retail purposes. I was thinking about making a separate drive of just retail friendly models. Most of these are already posted on Thingiverse or for sale on Shapeways, but it would be a convenient option for folks trying to start their own 3D hub somewhere. I would make this a perk for $10 tier patrons on up. Thoughts? Or is this not really necessary and just leave things as is?

I want in on your commercial license tier and will be the first to sign up.

Sounds like a great idea. I'd be interested for sure.

I'm interested in this as well!

Heh nice. I mean it would be a rather minor perk I feel. People could just go to Thingiverse and grab what they need. I'll give it some thought.

Nice. Ok I'm figuring out how to go about this. I feel it'd be a minor perk at best, given the stuff is already on Thingiverse. But thanks fro your feedback!

So is the idea that someone would take your models, print them, then sell the printed models? I would probably make that a higher perk than $10, although I understand (and greatly appreciate!) that most of them are already available for free on thingiverse, or through here.

The idea is more they can do whatever they want that has a retail nature to it. So rig them for animated games, print minis in their own shops, etc etc. Higher than $10? I couldn't imagine charging higher, but, I wasn't really in this to make money in the first place. Just made sense for it to be higher than $5. I'll give it some thought.

Hey that was my suggestion! Love it obviously.

Haha yeah thanks. I just received a lot of questions about this recently and thought it'd make life easier for people. Of course, I'd also deal with a lot more people signing on, downloading it all, and dropping me the next day, but, its the nature of making a public service I guess.

I am in for an extra 5/monthly!

I like this and have supported for about three months. I do fdm printing... But how would this affect all of your current stuff? Would the new tier be for tier specific models?

mz4250

Nothing would really change. I'd just make a separate drive I'd only share with the higher tiers that's all. I'd still post the same files online at the usual sites and on my Share Drive.

I dig it man

This is exactly what I was going to message you about. I would like to see the WotC intellectual property in one folder, and all of your personal files in another folder. That would let us know which ones are available to license from you and which ones aren't. I would be more than happy to continue donating $10/mo as a licensing fee for the rights to use your personal creations commercially. Hell I would be willing to go higher if for that matter.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm thinking about making this a higher than $10 tier, but for now I think its fine with my original idea.

If we are a higher tier, would we be able to request DM stuff? I'd love to see what you could do for a dice tower... Or like epic items... Perhaps standardized minatures hands to graps custom sized weapons... Or clip on items... I would love that.

I think it’s a great idea, things can get murky dealing with intellectual properties etc. Good looking out!
