Now I’m taking a vacation and getting some inspiration in Dubrovnik, the Pearl of the Adriatic Sea, also known as the Athens of South Slavonia.

Did you know that this Croatian city - with its 40,000 inhabitants back in the Middle Ages had been one of the most prominent cities of Europe and the central hub of naval commerce and even has some Hungarian references today? Louis I of Hungary acquired the city from Venice in 1358 and was part of our kingdom until 1526 and its monasteries still keep our founder of the state, St. Stephen’s artifacts safe.

It’s not by chance that Dubrovnik’s been selected as the setting for King’s Landing from Game of Thrones and I’m not having a rest here by accident, either. This medieval town has such a unique and inspiring atmosphere that like-minded individuals can only think of fantasy adventures while walking these alleyways. Consequently, I immediately started picturing battle maps everywhere.

I wanted to grasp this feeling so I took photos of the walls, and stone tiles on the floor, in order to create maps with completely authentic textures originating from the very heart of Dubrovnik to complete this truly Mediterranean vibe.

I would happily come back with more alleyways and squares, harbors, and streets below castle walls later, as I believe these Mediterranean-style locations can be put to some great use on our gaming tables. If you agree, please let me know what kind of encounter locations would trigger your fancy the most.

As usual, night versions are available for both maps, and as our exclusive content, I’m giving you the interior of the two-story house from one of the maps in png form that you can use with Editor or your own VTT. I will send it out in early October.

Thank you for your continued support!

Beautiful! Yes please! More alleys, harbors, city streets, etc. from this lovely town. Maybe an island or two close by so we can populate them with villains or peaceful fishermen.
