this piece was a little trickier to pull off colours-wise because the more colours that get involved (which has to be with his birthday balloon at the back) the most tweaking has to be done to make them look harmonious!

here’s the initial sketch and some artist notes

then an example to show how i personally ATTEMPT to achieve color harmony. the back balloons were too bright in the shades of their element (blue was too blue, green was too emerald green)that took away from the earth tones of omi and tsumu doll. the colour palette on the left was eye dropped from tsumu doll and omi, representing the base colour scheme i wanted to stick with!

the right palette is colour dropped from the balloons! with our nifty buddy, mr hue/saturation bar, i simply toned down their saturations and shifted each shade towards a more pale yellow/earthy direction.

although subtle, you’ll find that the difference has helped bring back a warmer overall colour balance

Thank you for sharing the progression with us! It’s very interesting to me as someone who doesn’t have artistic ability. Everything you create looks so beautiful ❤️

hehe I believe that everyone has great artistic instincts and you'll be able to tell when something seems off in balance, even if you don't draw! 🌟 thankyou so much Myra 🥺💖
