Shedding light on a lights out performance from deep

By: Caitlin Cooper I @C2_Cooper

What a difference the three-point line makes, amirite? After going 3-of-30 from the deep in the second game of the season against the Knicks, the Pacers outscored New York 63 to 21 from beyond the arc on Sunday, including going 8-of-13 from three in the fourth quarter alone. Not-so-surprisingly. one of those games was a loss and the other game was a win. For frame of reference, whereas the Pacers went 4-15 in games last season when they shot below 30 percent from three, they went 5-2 when they made 20 or more threes. Needless to say, when they catch fire from deep, they're hard to catch. As such, from a game that saw Myles Turner (26), Tyrese Haliburton (35), and Bennedict Mathurin (38) nearly combine for 100 points, the attached video is a breakdown of every three the team made in the fourth quarter, with added context from the prior match-up and other games throughout the season to shed light on what was a lights out performance from deep.

Enjoy! (Oh, and stay tuned until the end for a few defensive highlights as well!)

What are the Pacers' current problems and how would they improve if Halliburton were to return to form? If Halliburton were able to start the season in its original form, I think they would be about 8-3 at this point.
