Please do not share my works outside of my Patreon. Many creators, including myself have said this so many times at this point.

I appreciate all of your support and it helps me to continue to be able do this. However, lately I have noticed an increase in theft. Although I do understand not everyone agrees with patreon, I can not devote the time it takes to complete these works, for absolutely nothing in return, that would be the equivalent of being a slave.

I would love for my works to be free for you all with the use of adfly, which is how it once was when the sims community allowed adfly, but after many people reported this website because they didn't even want to wait 5 seconds before a download, tumblr blocked the site, and me and many other creators were forced to look for an alternative which obviously was Patreon.

Because of the amount of theft me and all other creators have been dealing with, I have decided to focus and create on another game in which my works are unable to be stolen from and taken for granted. I will continue to create for the sims game, for now, but if this behavior continues I will stop all together because at this point I make far more on the new platform than I do creating for this game anyways, and like many of you I have bills and a real life to maintain.

If you do not believe in Patreon then just don't pledge, but to deliberately steal is another level of disrespect as well as a crime. Seeing my creations stolen is extremely upsetting, frustrating, and altogether demotivating for me to continue to create at all. I work very hard to make you guys happy so the least you could do is keep the content I provide, exclusive to you. I also don't understand the logic behind paying just to steal and give to others for free... but to each their own I guess.

Anyways, if you are one of the patrons doing this, I ask that you please don't ruin it for everyone else because I am honestly exhausted with that behavior in this community in that regard and I am at the point of quitting. At this point I really have nothing holding me here besides making my supporters happy. But if I can not be happy myself, then I will not continue.

Thank you <3

I’m sorry, but comparing creating sims content to slavery is very insensitive.

Anonymous

that is...literally not slavery. incredibly insensitive and frankly nonsensical.

i think im going to unpledge bcuz making cc is not slavery and you will start making cc for other games bye

I have to be honest I'm a little disappointed with this post. I've paid money for your content as I liked it. I've also paid for request content as well, which still hasn't been delivered. I pay money for content I like and I'm happy to support creators, but you really need to change your attitude also deliver content that people have actually paid you to create. That would be good customer service, not slavery. I'm sorry, but I've messaged you about it, but still not received a reply. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. However, clearly you don't deserve my custom. Also I think maybe you need to look into the history of slavery and what it actually means.

Hey Guys, so to anyone who was offended by this post, I genuinely apologize. Any time I express my feelings as it pertains to my work, there is always a backlash. There is always an issue with something I've said and somehow someone always seems to be offended. To provide you all with further clarification, I decided to made this post to address and express my feelings toward anyone that “may” be “redistributing” my work. If you are not one of those people, then this post obviously was not geared toward you in any way. From what I have read, and taken the time to reflect on before responding, is that many of you seem to be more offended my by comparison to slavery rather than feeling “accused” of redistributing my work. I want to take a moment to delve into my comparison in a bit further detail, so you can have a better understanding of the place I was coming from when I made the comparison. slave NOUN: * a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them.

VERB: * work excessively hard.
As a person of African-American descent myself, I am fully aware and understand exactly what the terms “slave” and “slavery” mean and through my understanding, my choice to make this comparison is in fact completely accurate. There is not ONE set version of being a slave. Not all slaves are necessarily beaten, bred, and tortured either. There are many other forms of slavery despite the most notable conditions that have been front and center for years. Furthermore, even the definition I have provided is very broad in its description and that is because slavery can refer to a wide range of conditions. Lastly, the person doesn’t even have to necessarily be “legally owned property” in order for you them to be working under slave-like conditions. My PERSONAL experience with this community shares some of the same aspects of the various forms of what slavery can consist of. Being a CC creator for this community for years, you guys have absolutely no clue what these beautiful, amazingly talented creators deal with on a daily. I am constantly harassed through dealing with a community that seems to feel entitled to creators work for “free” and many of my other creator friends experience the same treatment. It’s either the consumer’s way or no way at all for a large portion of this community. I am called names and the list goes on and on. Ironically enough, some of you have even chosen to do that in this post while complaining about my choice of words. I spend a lot of time “sitting in front of a dam computer creating CC” and so when I post my work to the public, just like any other brand in the world. I prefer to charge for it. It’s my personal preference for the time that I spend working, and what I go through in this community. That is all, but I am by no means sitting here rolling around in cash and it in no way stems from a greedy place. It’s merely something I enjoy doing for my fans and at the end of the day my own preference. If you aren’t a creator then you probably won’t understand what that is like, but it can be pretty overwhelming if you acknowledge the negativity. However, “working for free” is the KEY point I was trying to make with this comparison and it is something that I will not do. The harassment and name calling I receive, comes with the territory at this point (within this community) and you are entitled to have your own opinions. I let you guys say whatever you want to me because of this, but many of you tend to forget that so am I. Although I’m usually aware of the harassment I receive, I tend to ignore it (just another preference of mine), which is why I have taken so long to reply. It usually isn’t worth the battle to me, but since I seem to have offended some people I did want to take the time necessary to explain my reasoning through an in depth response because I do understand that its a touchy subject because it is for me which is why I was very angry when I began feeling like creators are dealing with being expected to work under similar conditions from this community. Moving on. Now, from what I have read, some of you have absolutely no understanding of the difference between “physical” goods, “virtual” goods, and “digital” goods and that the laws vary for each kind of merchandise that is sold. Please consider taking a moment to evaluate and understand the definitions of each before moving on. Goods merchandise or possessions that are made to be SOLD: Virtual goods are non-physical objects and money purchased for use in online communities or online games.
Digital goods, on the other hand, may be a broader category including digital books, music, and movies. (Which is why the term plagarism, the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own, is able to exist.) Although my content falls under the “virtual” goods definition, all 3 kinds of goods have legal laws and stipulations regarding their terms of use. Because of the fact that virtual goods are obviously in-tangible, but rather files or scripts, its a bit more difficult for people to consider as “property” and “merchandise” but nonetheless, they are. The great things about hosting or advertising your brand through Patreon is that Patreon protects the rights to your goods under their copyright agreement and will take action accordingly because when you violate MY terms of use, you also violate theirs. When people pledge to redistribute my work and share it on anti-pay sites, they are infringing upon not only my own copyrights, but Patreon as well. Here are a few of the relevant points to this matter, straight from Patreon’s updated Copyright Agreement. Please read carefully. “Your creations” “You keep complete ownership of all creations, but you give us permission to use them on Patreon. Make sure you have permission to use creations that you offer on Patreon.” “You keep full ownership of all creations that you offer on Patreon, but we need licenses from you to operate Patreon effectively.” “We will never try to steal your creations or use them in an exploitative way.” “You may not post creations that infringe others' intellectual property or proprietary rights.” ** “Patrons may not use creations posted by creators in any way not authorized by the creator” ** “We can terminate or suspend your account at any time at our discretion. We can also cancel any membership subscriptions and remove any descriptions, posts or benefits at our discretion.” “These terms remain in effect after your account is deleted.” Copyright infringement ALONE is a criminal offense and any time someone steals or redistributes a “Patreon” creators work, it is against the law. I decided to take just a little more time “sitting at my PC” to elaborate on what the terms “copyright” and “copyright-infringement” mean because it is imperative that you understand each term individually: cop·y·right NOUN: * the exclusive legal right, given to an originator or an assignee to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material, and to authorize others to do the same. -Google Dictionary

** Copyright infringement is the use of works protected by copyright law without permission, infringing certain exclusive rights granted to the copyright holder, such as the right to reproduce, distribute, display or perform the protected work, or to make derivative works. The copyright holder is typically the work's creator, or a publisher or other business to whom copyright has been assigned. Copyright holders routinely invoke legal and technological measures to prevent and penalize copyright infringement.** - Wikipedia. Copyright infringement can be a felony or a misdemeanor. A felony charge must involve an infringement of the copyright owner’s reproduction or distribution rights. A felony conviction carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.” So, given what I’ve provided, when I referred to Patron’s “stealing” from creators in my initial post, its actually the wrong choice of words. The term I should have opted for is “redistribution.” And that is where you can begin to further understand the differences that draw the line between the rules of distributing “physical” goods vs. “virtual” goods. Due to the fact that physical goods can be held and taken away from a physical location and you can not physically make “copies” of that item, means that the only one that will be given this item directly from the seller, is the person that “actually” paid for it. Since once it is turned over to the buyer it no-longer belongs to the seller, yes you have every right to do what you wish with that physical item. On the contrary, virtual goods can NOT be “taken away” from the place you’ve purchased it from because it is not a “physical item,” but rather a “file” or “script” etc. and that is why they have different copyright rules surrounding them. When you download a file from the internet you are given a “copy” of the file and once you’ve downloaded that copy, you too may make as mannyyyy copies of the files as you please. I’m sure that by now you should be able to foreshadow where this is going and how this can be extremely detrimental to virtual good sellers like all of your amazingly talented sims creators which is why Patreon offers to protect your work under their copyright if you join and THAT is why many of us have chose patreon. It’s not necessarily about the “Money” like everyone tries to make it seem. For creators, choosing patreon as our distribution platform is about protecting the work we worked so hard on creating for the people that love our work. It is EXTREMELY unfair to the patrons that pledge to these creators for content , while some just pay to redistribute the files to their friends and anti-pay sites so that everyone can obtain our files for free. More importantly, as previously stated, these people are breaking the law. It seems that some people think that because this is a game, these rules do not apply but these people are mistaken and what they are getting involved in is very serious and something creators as a collective are working toward resolving legally as we speak. I hope that with all I have said, you leave this post with a better understanding of my intentions and more importantly, the rights of Patreon creators, than you had when you initially read or commented on this post. Thank you and I hope all of you have an amazing and productive day. PS: The reason my brand name is vain is because I just wanted everyone who downloads my content to be in love with the looks they are able to achieve when they use my creations. That is all. But below I have specifically geared the actual definition to you so that you can read a little more about, and familiarize yourself with not only the definition, but also and some of the surrounding synonyms that go along with it: vain adjective: Definition of vain : having or showing undue or excessive pride in one's appearance or achievements. synonyms:· self-loving · in love with oneself · self-admiring · self-regarding· wrapped up in oneself · self-absorbed · self-obsessed · self-centered · egotistic · egotistical · egoistic · egocentric · egomaniac · proud · haughty · arrogant · boastful · swaggering · imperious · overweening · cocky · affected -Merriam Webster Gretchen, since you seem to particularly want a response based on some of the things I’ve read from you, my advice would be to simply delete your pledge. If my choice of words offended you that deeply, like I said I genuinely apologize, those were not my intentions whatsoever, but I am certainly not forcing anyone to pledge to me that does not have the desire to do so. Also, I am just as entitled to my own opinion, especially on my own patreon account. So your response was actually a bit comedic to me, especially considering the fact that you are still pledged after a month’s time after seeming to be genuinely concerned if I was mad, crazy, and insane and then you proceeded to say it’s the dumbest shit you’ve ever heard. Round of applause for you! You have successfully gotten what you wanted although I really just tried to let it slide like i usually do. I guess staying pledged is your “preference” ? Thats fine, but that would make YOU the crazy one, not me. It’s just interesting to me how I really thought you were a genuine supporter based on your praises in my comments in the past (and even during your rant!), but when it came down to it, these little names and petty remarks have really not surprised me. I deal with “supporters” like you all the time. Although, I’ve always loved having you here, unfortunately your choices will result in permanent termination whenever you do decide to un-pledge. So actually, who knows, maybe it’s safer for you to remain pledged based on your praises of my work :D Anyways, thats neither here nor there, its up to you and has absolutely nothing do with me. I’ll happily continue to accept your $10 a month. Thank you so much!

Hi, will you please send me another message here on patreon. I've searched my messages and there are none for you. I apologize that you've been dealing with this but I've never intentionally ignored anyone or even done it at all. I always respond and I have no unread messages from you. If you can please message me I'll take care of this for you asap. <3
