sierra's reaction corner

I had no clue you were a Walking Dead fan and gonna be watching this show! SO excited for more, this show has been incredible so far. Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln were Executive Producers and writers on the show. Danai said she had to fight AMC to get the Richonne reunion to happen in episode 1, they wanted to push it to the end of course. Andrew also pushed for Rick to finally lose his hand, AMC didn't want to do it in the main show for some reason. I see what you mean about Rick's family being farmers being kinda "shoehorned" in, because it would've made sense to be revealed in Seasons 2-4 as you said, but I like that they did it now, because the main show really didn't explore much of Rick's life pre-apocalypse. Revealing it now, in a show meant to focus specifically on Rick and Michonne, just provides added contextualization for things we had already experienced and accepted. Rick knowing how to ride a horse in the series pilot was logical to begin with, but now we can begin to paint a picture of what his childhood was like, Rick's connection and bond with Hershel is even more important, and his determination to be Farmer Rick in Season 4 and teach Carl makes even more sense when you know that's how he grew up too. The whole "A's are sent away and killed" thing seems like its more complex than it really is to me. Like I don't think it's much of a mystery there, I think they just take them away from the main base or facility, and either kill them right away or do things to them that will kill them regardless.
