(skip to bottom for tl;dr version)

Hiya everyone!~

So if you're supporting other DiD artists on Patreon you're probably aware of what's been goin' on recently, but in case you aren't aware here's kind of the rundown:
At least one DiD artist that I know of was contacted by Patreon that their work violated their community guidelines, possibly due to the noncon (non-consensual) nature of DiD art, even when there was nothing explicitly sexual depicted.

Due to that nature of DiD, a lot of my own art falls under that same umbrella X0 Since I started, I've already been reviewed by a member of Patreon's Trust and Safety team once. I suspect it was because I set up the page in May (to ensure Founders status) and the sudden influx of patrons when I started in July tipped 'em off. But they gave me the green light, even with my potentially NSFW profile pic/banner and the Ella/Addie beach draw. That leads me to believe it really may be the noncon aspect that's causing concern, but it also seems inconsistent (cuz thinking about it, that beach draw seems a lil noncon to me and yet they said I'm okay 🤔 hmm)...

So, what does this mean?
Well I'm not too sure yet. Obviously I want to make sure this page doesn't get struck down ; ~ ; I also don't want to stop creating DiD content since many of you seem to enjoy it as much as I do. I am starting to try more fun, consensual scenarios as well (the idea I have for the next bonus comic page reflects this), but DiD is part of me too Dx
I guess to be preemptive, like other artists are doing on Patreon, I'm going to start by editing/removing posts that Patreon may have issues with. The drawings'll still be available on Dropbox so they won't be gone forever, just the image won't appear on here anymore.
Another thing I'm seeing other artists doing is they're thinking of setting up a Discord server that's linked to their Patreon and tiers to distribute content that way. Although I thought about making one in the future as a lil place to discuss OmniV stuff and hang out, I'm not 100% sold on the idea of using it as the only place to see new drawings, since it almost forces y'all into either creating a Discord account, or adding yet another server to your list. It'd be nice to keep the number of holes you have to jump through to see my work to a minimum...
Patreon's Community Guidlines say that when they're reviewing a page, "...we look at how creations are shared, where the page is linked to and where the traffic comes from", so I guess even using Dropbox links could potentially be risky if I'm ever reviewed again. I'm not entirely sure how the Discord integration works, but if it acts as its own private and secure space, then that may be the safest way to share my work going forward since it doesn't seem like there's many other viable options...

So ye~ I'd like to know from y'all your thoughts on all this or any questions you hav. If I do end up making a Discord server, there's plenty of things to figure out first, so it may not be for a lil while.
I know it was a lot to take in, so thanks for taking the time to read through all of this~ I'm kinda freaking myself out and maybe I'm just paranoid, but I hope this is just another bump in the road and that it all works out okie.

I apologize if whatever happens moving forward isn't ideal for ya X/ But I thank you all for your continued support and for your understanding~ :3 Expect a follow-up notice once I get my stuff together.

-------

tl;dr Patreon appears to be cracking down on noncon DiD content. I'm going to be removing/editing posts from this page that may be an issue to Patreon's Community Guidelines (Dropbox links will still remain tho). I might set up a Discord server to distribute content that way but I'm not sold on the idea yet... Y'all can leave any thoughts or questions you have below~ Thank you!~

Ah man, I was worried about this. Have you already started removing images? I want to make sure I save them before they're deleted! I hope Patreon doesn't take issue with your content. It's pretty tame, and I'd be really sad to see your art disappear! :(

MagnoliaDucky

No need to save the images yourself~ I'm keeping the dropbox links open so they'll always be available through there. And I hav a feeling some of the drawings may not fly by their standards, like the Lucy draw > o </

A discord for patreons would definitely be a good idea, it's a shame that these companies are so sensitive with that they allow on their platform

Bryan Holland

Wow that must be harsh on you so are you doing something about this?

Drewmlin

Dang. Such a frustrating situation >_< I for one have been quite a fan of the more risque content as of late, and definitely don't wanna see the DiD stuff go away 😥 If the crack down does come though, I think discord could make for a pretty nifty workaround. It may not be the most ideal, but it's a good alternative at the very least I suppose we'll just have to play it by ear 🙏

Thank you for being so thoughtful about this. I have a Discord account and like it for some things (like interaction with other group members), but I don't know that it is as effective for distributing content. You'll have my support no matter which route you take.

Patreon is run by plebs lol.

TankyRabbits

Having a Discord would be awesome. You get to talk to your fans in real time, do some fun silly stuff, heck, why stop there? Could probably help make up the world of Omnivoyant and have fun Omnivoyant adventures and such.

I'll be entirely honest, I don't have much of an issue with these changes. Non-consensual content, especially when made sexual, should be handed very carefully. I understand there's an audience for that. A responsible audience at that, but some people (myself included) have limits when it comes to that sort of thing. The Lucy comic specifically, while very well done, tetered the line a little too much for me personally, if that makes sense. You'll also notice similar things happening with depictions of younger characters. Something that before, never even crossed my mind until recently when brought up. In this case too, I have to side with Patreon. Fictional or not, I'm uncomfortable with depicting younger characters in an inherently sexual manner. It's interesting because if you look back a few years ago, specifics in DID content, consensual or not, weren't discussed. Rather, the content as a whole was either accepted or discarded. It's a sign that the community is maturing, which is a cool thing to see! Anyway, not trying to be disrespectful or anything, sorry if it comes across that way, just my two cents.

MagnoliaDucky

Oh no, not at all!~ If anything this was a very respectful way of voicing your thoughts, so I thank you for that! :3c Ye I understand I'm juggling with a few different audiences here: some love those more risque and controlling scenarios and some have limits like you said~ I was willing to try and push my own limits on the Lucy draw and try something more risque than anything I've done before, but I also started to get thoughts that maybe it was too much... which is why on this next bonus pic I wanna take it in the opposite direction and try a more fun and consensual scenario~ From now on I just need to be even more mindful with the kind of content I'm creating so I don't push people away or catch any unwanted attention :0 Your point about the younger characters is good too~ I always try and make sure that I never depict or imply anything sexual when a young character is involved. For the Lucy draw, I went with her timeskip depiction where she's 24-25, but even still I understand any discomfort from seeing it. But again, thank you for voicing your thoughts!~ It's nice to see what others are thinking

2021-07-09 05:26:56 Pretty much been hearing the ban hammer coming down on a few, fellow artists with similar interests. I get they are trying to protect their brand. Still, I know it's an unwelcomed situation. I wouldn't mind the discord idea but I get what you're saying about seemingly forcing folks in signing up for something else that should be fairly seemless. I do like the dropopoptilyoucantstopbox idea as an archival method. Your current course of action seems to be your best bet for now. I just hope it'll work out. But, speaking for myself, I'd jump through whatever holes to continue my support for you! <3
