“Mama, I want an ice cream cone,” the soft voice pleaded.

“Yes, yes. I know, Enrique,” Natalie huffed and stood next to the counter. Sweat had formed on her brow. The pregnant mother had been fighting contractions on and off for the last couple hours. Her husband was on his way back from a medical conference. He was due anytime and she wanted him to be present for her labor.

But it seemed her husband wasn’t the only one who was due.

Natalie’s belly cramped upon itself in an intense contraction. She leaned forward and moaned. Her huge belly then shuttered and quivered with the twins she carried inside of her. Natalie recognized it, but she’d hoped she’d been wrong. She was in labor, there was no denying it.

She had braced herself and then clutched her belly was obvious enough that she was in not only discomfort, but distress as well.

Natalie moaned and closed her eyes. She was both oblivious and indifferent to the former lover who worked the ice cream parlor’s counter. Her water had broken.

Worse than that, she could already feel her baby pressing down into her birth canal. Her shaven, swollen sex engorged with the contractions that she’d tried to ignore all morning.

She’d regretted wearing a thong…part of it, visible as she leaned forward and fought her body’s natural tendency to push.
