Composition Sketches (Patreon)

Some more sketches of this idea. Variations on the mask. I realized that I basically drew the same thing twice. So I think I'm settled on the composition and am going to focus on some of the details. Such as the mask, the hands, the costume, etc. 

I'm setting up a date to shoot more reference photos where I will focus on these things.

I've been collecting references of masks and trying to come up with an idea for that.

I might be a broken record here, but I'm happy I'm not figuring this out on the actual painting. 

Happy January 23rd Everybody

Today I went to the Dollar Store, the pet store, Michaels, the Thrift store and the grocery store. 

At the dollar store I was looking for fake flowers to use as reference for the costume. In the original study I did there's some flowers on her dress. I got the idea for that from a painting, and now I can't find it. Take note: save your reference photos.

 I was looking for a blank mask at the dollar store, Michaels and goodwill. This is for reference for this painting and for the prompt. I ended up ordering them on amazon, which I try to keep as a last resort. 

At Michaels I bought clay and they had BOGO free on their canvases so I got two 11x14" canvases. 

At the thrift store I looked at dresses for the costume reference. I didn't see any that jumped out at me. They had a hat that will work perfect. 

I got pet food. Pet stores make me feel depressed. 

I got groceries. I saw my friend, the drummer, at the grocery store. He was on his 10 minute break. He told me that he likes to smoke cigars and watch reruns of Walker Texas Ranger at night. 

I did laundry and baked a new head mannequin that I sculpted. 

I'm going to work on the Art Lives video. I got a good session of writing in yesterday.
