New Scum Choir Luxury Leather Shampoo. Lather yourself in Luxury with my new premium shampoo that comes in a leather bottle.

In my quest for methods of creating reference material to paint from I'm looking into digital alternatives.

This is from Adobe Dimension, the 3D design program that is included in my Adobe Suite package. To orient you with how the program works they walk you through how to design a shampoo bottle. They give you texture's that you can apply to the basic models. I liked how the leather looked.

I don't know if I'll end up using this program for creating my painting references. It seems like it might be difficult to create models of the stuff I want to paint.

The main features I would want to use it for is to simulate lighting conditions on the stuff I want to paint and apply textures to models, especially skin textures.

And it seems like it would be very difficult to create a model from scratch on there. But I feel like this is an interesting program to know. And it may be useful to me in some circumstances.

Happy December 6th everybody

This morning I talked to my friend Atom St. George on the phone for about an hour. He has some pretty messed up family drama going on that I'm not going to give details about here.

We talked about how that sort of stuff is what made us artists in the first place.

He was diagnosed with MS and that upended his life. That's what led him to discover painting. When I met him he had been painting full time for about 5 years I think. I met him at one of the first art shows I ever did. He gave me some advice about where to show my work and that sort of thing. Meeting him made me feel like I could do it too.

When I met him he could still walk. Since I met him about 8 years ago, I've watched as he's slowly lost control of legs. He's in a wheel chair now. He likes to photoshop pictures of himself on skateboard ramps in his motorized wheelchair doing flips and stuff.

One time we were trying to cross a busy street to get to a restaurant. This is before he was in a wheel chair. There was an opening in traffic and I ran across the street. I forgot that his legs didn't work well even back then. From halfway across the street I heard him yelling "wait! my noodly legs!"

Today we talked about:

Personalty disorders and traumas that Atom has been watching YouTube videos about and reading about.

How much we hate social media and how the algorithms of these social media platforms are going to limit the types of thoughts that people can have. The types of scams, and trolls and unhinged people who try and take advantage of artists on there.

Different ideas we have about why some artists seem to make it and others don't.

I told him about the little maquettes I've been making and shared my process for how I paint portraits. Atom sold a painting at a gallery in New York and made a pretty good price. He says his paintings have been selling more since he started painting animals in them.

I felt all energized after we talked and did laundry. Then started working on a video that I'm making about the maquettes.

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to write the narration for that video. I also have to come up with my lesson plan for work tomorrow. I think we're going to paint snowmen.

Have fun,

Goodnight Sweeties

If in doubt, always go with the leather look😀. Looks good, similar to the look on the evil dead book. Seriously though, back when I was able to use CAD a lot for interior/architectural design I was always trying to render different surfaces so they would try and relate to the products to be used, it's certainly come a long way, putting in shadow and depth in great contrast. Almost makes me wish I was still able to do it.

dimension was pretty easy to use! It probably wouldn't be too hard to pick up again. Adding the leather to the shampoo bottle reminded me of Man Ray's (I think?) hairy teacup sculpture. I really wanted to add some hair to the bottles but they didn't have any hair textures included.
