Alla Prima study with acrylic on canvas. One of my friends actually gave me the name macaroni by talking about the feather in his hat.

I learned recently that that song "Yankee Doodle" is basically an 18th century dis track. Macaroni, which is what Yankee Doodle called it when he stuck a feather in his hat, does not refer to the tasty pasta. Macaroni was a certain style of over the top high fashion popular with the aristocracy.

So basically when the song says that Yankee Doodle "stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni" they're basically saying "He's trying to be cool it but he's not."

So there you have it.
