This is my official prompt submission.

I started with a study for this. At the beginning of the video I'm signing it.

I tried out a new panel for this piece. It was the 3/8" version of this one

I liked it. very smooth surface. No texture at all.

I started with some transparent red iron oxide from the underpainting. Then some burnt umber for the shadow side.

I started building up the grayscale using mixtures of titanium white, carbon black and neutral gray and mixing in some burnt umber and transparent red iron oxide to add some warmness to the grays.

I started adding color to the eye things. Because those were going to be the most chromatic colors. For the study I made the eye blobs red. For the finished painting I used cadmium orange. Which was a color I had never used before this.

And I ended up using cadmium orange and ultramarine blue as the main colors for this. I really liked the way that cad. orange neutralizes the ultramarine.

I had the hardest time figuring out what I wanted to do for the eyes. I added pupils at one point. But it just didn't seem to work and I liked it better as the kind of abstract glowing candy like forms.

Here's the secret link to the song in the video
