Painting From a Motel Room-Living as a Question on Staycation (Patreon)

Every year around this time I get burnt out. Then I get depressed. So last year I decided I'd take a little staycation around this time.
I threw a dart at a map (sort of) I typed in "motels," clicked randomly and made a reservation.
I love motels, but they are very lonely places. And I really resonated with David Whyte's "Alone"
“To be alone for any length of time is to shed an outer skin. The body is inhabited in a different way when we are alone than when we are with others. Alone, we live in our bodies as a question rather than a statement.”
So this little trip kind of became about that idea for me. Living as a question rather than a statement.
I took some watercolor and drawing supplies and I ended up sketching a few things I was pretty excited about. I painted a lot of bad paintings of flowers, I did a few sweeties, some automatic paintings, one painting of a weird garden that I was "psyched out of my mind about" as the writer from Elf says.
Then my hard drive got corrupted and I lost the videos of all that. But I still had some of the footage on memory cards. So I was able to edit together some of the footage into a video for you sweeties.
I recomend doing a little staycation if you can! I had to plan mine like a year in advance because, well, money. But I think it was worth it. Changing your environment can be a very powerful boost to your creative mojo in my opinion. And I'm speaking as someone who hates going anywhere.
