This is my personal favorite from this latest series of paintings. One guy at the gallery said it made him hungry for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I took that as high praise. People at the gallery also assume that these paintings are done in oil.

I would love to paint in oil, but my studio is my bedroom. And there are certain fumes that oils emit and there's a smell that oils give off. so I don't want to sleep in the same room as that.  

The downside of acrylic is that it dries too fast. And that it can have this plastic look to it when it dries. Because it's literally plastic. But the upside of acrylics drying fast is that I can add layers faster than I could with oil. I think the varnish I add at the end mitigates the plastic look. I also use quality acrylic paints and mediums which might have less of a plastic look as well.
