I liked the still life-ness of the “oldest trick” piece I did. I’m trying to get a new 12x12” piece done for this group show at a gallery I really want to be in.

I did this study all from imagination using the Zorn pallet (black, red, yellow ochre, white) and added a little ultramarine blue to the mix and transparent red iron oxide as a “cheat color” between red and yellow ochre.

I started sculpting the maquette after I got home from the gallery last night. I’m trying out translucent clay rather than the usual gray.

I haven’t been doing as many videos lately, mostly because I’m focused on the painting right now. After the deadline for this piece I should have a little more time to edit the huge pile of footage I’ve created for the past two months or so.

Have fun

Goodnight sweeties

Looks like a renaissance still life, then of course you look closely, who knows what little beastie's lie under that cloth 👏
