HAPPY FRIDAY!

OK i have some things to talk about below!! So if you haven't seen this then beware

🚨Spoilers Below! 🚨

Well! I am excited that I have now seen this original Sci-Fi classic! But I am a little irked with myself because I feel like the reveal was wasted on me because i have seen Rise/Dawn/War "Reboots". I actually forgot that they are alllllll PREQUELS! Until it dawned on me LOL Obviously!

All that being said! I really liked this movie! I thought it was really thought provoking and had a lot of themes to think on about our own society. I loved the makeup and the score and I felt like the pacing was really great! I can't even begin to imagine what this would of been like seeing in theatres in 1968! I reallllly want to see the rest of these original movies because I feel like they ought to be good! But you know me! I love Sci-fi!

Can someone please explain me to the space mission and why they landed back on earth!? I just figured that was what happened and they had been gone so long with everything that happened and thats why they didn't recognize it was earth?????Cause it got nuked?

I do think this is a like a Star Wars situation where you should ONLY watch these in the order which they are released. The prequels should NOT be watched first.

I am excited for Kingdom though! I think i will most likely enjoy it because I loved the reboots so much!

Note * I have never seen the Mark Wahlberg 2001 version as well as the rest of the original POTA's from (1970-1972).

Thanks soo much for being here! I feel so much better and glad my lingering cough didn't take over the reaction!!!!!

Let me know alllll your thoughts down below!

This was a first time watch for me, Ames! Unfortunately, the ending was spoiled for me too, not because I had seen any other of the POTA movies, but because I had seen the ending of this one at some point. I don't remember exactly when; it may have even been a parody of some kind, I'm not sure, but when Taylor looked up from his horse on the beach, I knew exactly what he was going to see. Perhaps it's just one of those things that's hard to keep secret in popular culture - like knowing who Luke Skywalker's father is without having seen Star Wars. I loved Jerry Goldsmith's score! So creative and delightful! I also thought the prosthetics were AMAZING, especially knowing this movie came out 56 years ago! So, even though the reveal didn't do anything for me, I'm glad I watched the film with you! Another movie I've been intending to watch for a long time checked off the list!

The score was the highlight for me. Very unique and atmospheric. The Spaceballs parody of the ending is pretty funny.

I remember as a kid there was an actual TV series based on the movie. Part of their marketing strategy was selling Planet of the Apes trading cards packaged with bubblegum. (Like Baseball cards). I collected them myself but it was short-lived. The series was cancelled after one season.
