The day after my experience at the gym, Mari confronted me at the office.

“You left your gym bag at the apartment this morning,” She told me.

“I don’t think I’m going to go anymore,” I replied.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing!”

“I can tell something’s up! This is the first day you’re not going to gym in weeks, it’s also the first day you’re wearing something actually professional to the office instead of a sweatshirt, and your posture is just defensive. Something is up.”

I knew she was right. I was really starting to feel like the woman I was. My feelings after looking at guys in the gym, the way I was dressing, even down to my feelings about myself.

Mari didn’t wait for me to answer. “My advice?” She said, “I get that the gym was sort of my thing that you embraced...for good reason! But you need to connect with the things that YOU enjoyed. You may have MY body, but please remember to live YOUR life!”
