Part 1 

Except for his initial interviews, Raymond hadn’t seen much of the research lab during the day and certainly hadn’t seen many parts of the lab at all during that time or even during his shifts as a night watchman. After swapping bodies with the mermaid, he was now seeing parts of the lab he never had before.

He soon learned that the woman he swapped bodies with wasn’t actually a mermaid -- or at least not a natural one. She had been subject to experiments that fused her with parts of a fish. Inside of her body, Raymond could breath underwater but also in the air; however, getting around on the ground with a fish tail was quite impossible.

He became subject to the researcher’s further experiments. For the most part, this involved mixing more animal DNA into his body. He wasn’t sure exactly what they were injecting into him every day, but after about a week, he sprouted a pair of antlers. He had no idea what they hoped to learn by doing this to him, and he questioned if any of it was even remotely legal. But how could he escape to tell anyone? The damned fish tail kept him from moving on dry land, and it’s not like he could escape from the tank they kept him in at night. He had a feeling things were just going to keep getting weirder.
