Keith had started going to the gym, because he wanted to better himself. Being middle aged and overweight just felt like a bad combination, so losing a few pounds felt like a no-brainer. But the gym was difficult, and even when he worked hard, there didn’t seem to be many results.

And yet he kept going. And one day it just felt painful. There was a terrible feeling in his chest right before it all just seemed to zap away. He soon realized he was now watching his own body have a heart attack. He wondered if he was dead already and having some sort of out-of-body experience. However, he was still very much in a body, it just happened to be one that wasn’t his.

This new body Keith had was young, fit, and certainly a woman. It was also distracting enough that he didn’t think to find a phone to call for help for his own body. Seeing his own body die in front of him was an experience he would never forget, and something that would certainly haunt him.

In all fairness, it probably wouldn’t have mattered. The reason why Keith swapped bodies with due to the Great Shift, which swapped everyone else’s bodies as well -- including doctors and ambulance drivers. The streets were a mess with cars, likely preventing any help from even getting through. A huge part of him still felt bad for not even trying.
