Neither Greg nor Shannon knew why it happened, but every year on the winter solstice the two siblings would swap bodies. And each year on the vernal equinox they’d return back to their original body. This had taken place ever year since they were teenagers. The first year had been complete chaos, with sibling rivalry in full swing. But now that they were older, they had established a clear set of rules of what they could and couldn’t do in each other’s bodies.

Shannon’s first rule to Greg was “try your best to act like me,” and her second one was simple “no sex.” Following that second rule had been easy initially. The thought of having sex as a woman -- and as his own sister -- just felt wrong.

However, that all changed when Shannon got married in June. When seeing their parents over Thanksgiving, she pulled Greg aside. Not only was she repealing the “no sex” rule, she had some new guidelines surrounding the “act like me” rule, explaining that she had sex with her husband usually around once a week.

Greg tried to protest, but Shannon blackmailed and pleaded with him in a way she hadn’t since high school. He reluctantly gave in.

And then came December 22, the day after the solstice. Greg was Shannon’s body for the first time since she got married. Her husband had rented a cute cabin in the woods for the holidays. Greg sat on the sofa by the fireplace. He could tell Shannon’s husband was eyeing him. Greg knew what he was expected to do tonight and once a week for the rest of the winter. He tried to give a smile. It would be a new experience for him, sure, but he wasn’t the least bit interested in it. He just knew he had to in order to act as much like Shannon the best he could.
