I had known Brandon for years; I easily considered him my best friend. When the Great Shift happened, he was one of the first people I tried to get in contact with. We had both become women, but it seems Brandon was also now notably pregnant. He told me about how weird it felt to have a really big belly and to have something “squirming” around in there. I couldn’t think how he’d react to giving birth in a few weeks.

Imagine my surprise when I showed up to a club we’d often visit one Friday night, and Brandon was there, dancing up a storm with his pregnant belly hanging out.

I yelled at him over the loud music, “I’m surprised you’re out. You know you can’t drink, right?”

“I’d love a drink,” He shouted back, “You buyin’?”

“No, dude!” I yelling, knowing he must’ve misheard, “You CAN’T drink right now. Pregnant women aren’t supposed to.”

“The hell? Really?”

“Dude, have you even been to the gynecologist to take a look at it?”

“I thought it would just sort of...fall out.”

I sighed, “We’re so scheduling you an appointment ASAP.”
