As the dragon approached the kingdom, Sir Bruce lead the charge. And just when the dragon was just outside the gate, he shot an arrow that dealt a fatal blow. The dragon flew to a nearby garden and Sir Bruce gave chase. As it sat injured from his arrow, Bruce gave a blow with his sword. The dragon began to change. It got smaller and seemed to slowly be transforming into a woman from the orient.

“Fair maiden!” Sir Bruce said, “Were you cursed to be a dragon? Was attacking the kingdom part of the curse? May there be any way to cure you?”

“I did not attack a kingdom. Did I kill a single villager? Did I burn a single field? Did I even shoot a single flame from my mouth? It was you who attacked and gained chase. Being a dragon was not a curse; it was a joy. Do you know what was being a curse? Being a maiden in this kingdom! You refuse women even the most basic courtesies. They remain uneducated and their husband’s will forced upon them. And in my death, I am able to pass on a curse; a curse to you, my murderer. But I will not pass on being a dragon, for that was a joy and not a curse. No, Sir Bruce, you will experience my curse of being a maiden. You will awaken in three morrows as the fairer sex. You might find some physical pleasure in it, but you will also find societal pain. And it is what you will experience for the rest of your days.”
