Nate and his sister Michelle were small in very different ways. He had gone to college and dropped out after a few weeks, preferring to tinker in their parent’s basement on miscellaneous inventions. She studied hard and went to the Ivy Leagues. And yet, she was always happy to help with his weird machines anytime she was around.

Of course, she never expected him to invent something that would swap their brains! And what was worse was that the machine didn’t seem to be able to swap them back. Michele’s first priority was a date she had tonight, telling Nate that he’d have to go in her place. He didn’t want to, but he certainly felt responsible enough for this whole mess so he agreed.

He didn’t think anything of it as he ordered chicken nuggets and mac and cheese off the menu. It was only when he picked it up with his hands and he began to stuff his face that he realized what was going on and why swapping back didn’t work.

Technically speaking, he was still Michelle. It was just certain key parts of his brain that were telling him he was Nate. But several other parts belonged to other people entirely. His eating habits, for instance, were clearly those of their 3-year-old brother. He had been talking about football with this guy like his dad would -- even though Nate knew nothing about football. And as he looked at Michelle’s date up and down, he felt a sense of attraction more intense than anything he had ever known.

Fortunately for both Nate and Michelle, when her date saw the sloppy eating and cheese-covered hands, he quickly lost interest. And so instead of things goign further, the date ended, and Nate could continue working on fixing the problem now that he knew what it was.
