Dear everyone,

I had to take a quick break from 3D work to address this. Thankfully, my side of the collaborative piece is now done, so I can focus on work for the Patreon and public releases again. But given that this change has been announced, and I've gotten multiple people bring it to my attention, I felt like I should address it. As some of you have already seen, today, an email went out to creators about an upcoming change involving subscriptions through the apple app for Patreon. Hereby my thoughts and an explanation of the situation.

First off, a brief explanation of the situation at hand. Patreon sent out an email today to creators, informing them of upcoming changes in regards to payments made through the Patreon iOS app. Starting in november, new memberships purchased in the iOS app will be subject to Apple's 30% app store fee. This, according to Patreon, is because Apple is requiring them to use their in-app purchasing system, and to remove all other billing systems from the patreon app.

Because of this, any memberships purchased after November 2024 will get a 30% upcharge, or if the content creator is OK with it, they can decide to take the 30% hit themselves. THIS CHANGE IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO YOU IF YOU PAY FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP THROUGH THE iOS APP, AND RESTART YOUR SUBSCRIPTION AFTER NOVEMBER. This change does not affect google app users or web users, or existing memberships!

I have read that, to comply with this, other creators have been forced to change from a first of the month charge to a "subscription starts after payment" system. However, I have been on such a system already for about a year now. Because of this, there are no changes for anyone.

As for my personal opinion on the matter, I'm obviously not happy with it. However, I cannot blame anyone other than apple for this horrendous change. Thankfully, the change can be easily circumvented.

I believe the best way forward, is for everyone to boycott the iOS app entirely, and show apple that we as customers do not want to comply with such policy changes. It saves everyone money in their wallets, and sends a message to Apple. If you have an iPhone / iPad and happen to have your subscription running through the iOS app, I highly recommend you to restart your subscription through either the web browser on your phone, or to log into your computer, and restart your subscription through there. That way you will not have to pay the 30% upcharge to apple, even if they decide to change things even further and also target currently running subscriptions. Saves you the 30% upcharge, and you immediately send a message to apple showing your displeasure.

For everyone else, this change will have 0 effect on your subscription. The prices won't go up and your charge date will remain the same as it has been. Things will continue to go as they always have. I want to thank you all for your continued support. New pictures and WIP content will be coming soon!

xoxo Caroline

Apple literally forcing all charges through THEIR ap....just so they can charge another 30%...and PROFIT off a system they are forcing everybody to use....is absolutely horrendous. Thank goodness, I do not use iOS or Apple services (as far as I know). They've been trying to do this for a long time. Epic pulled out when Apple was trying to force it on them. Now....correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't this monopolizing everything on their system? Isn't that illegal?...but....as always in the USA.....all major corporations are immune to the "monopoly laws,"...and pretty much a whole lot of other laws.
