Last up in our inventory series.... Flitzybon!

"FLITZYBON!" was born because, basically, I use Flitzybon as a sort of mascot for my table at conventions, on price signs and the occasional sticker or two. There's a segment of the population who will gloss over all of my wares but instantly zone in on that dang cat hahaha. "Is there a book about the cat??"

When you hear something like that over and over, you should listen ;)

It took me a long time to come up with a story for Flitzybon. I wanted to write something for a young audience (since they were the ones most readily attracted to it), but I don't have a lot of experience in that age range and I don't think it comes "naturally" to me. I do, however, have a lot of experience making comics that are silly and fun, so I thought I had a shot.

Eventually things clicked for me when, on a whim, I started doodling Flitzybon as a "magical girl". The story I eventually came up with was "Sailor Moon meets Quantum Leap." Or Slider, if you prefer. Flitzybon gets sucked into this vortex and finds himself in a new world. There, an evil force is making people unhappy and must be defeated! At the end of the episode, Flitzybon and friends must jump to the next world, on the quest to find their way back to their own homes. (He's normally the cat I usually draw, when he "transforms" he turns into a more anthro version.)

I wanted each "episode" to be fairly self-contained and not necessarily needing to be read in any particular order. This reminded me of how I read Asterix growing up. I also wanted every "episode"/world to be a parody of a different kind of anime. 'Cause I'm a weeb.

I have a good start on the character designs, and a long list of ideas for worlds they could visit. I need to refine my vision for the plot structure (especially the antagonist and some other aspects about the tone), and probably just start making silly comic drafts until I get a hang of the characters.

My ultimate dream is to hire Jak to colour this. (I think this is an achievable dream).

So that's it! Those are the BIG ideas I have had knocking around over the past few years. Any of them interesting to you? Why or why not?

Now that I have a clear idea of where I stand, it's time to start digging into these ideas and others. Onwards!

I love the concept of this story. Maybe its cos I love YA, maybe its cats, maybe anime themes but I really hope you develop this!
