OK patrons! How's it going? It's Saturday, I'm here in Vancouver, it's overcast...? It's kinda been rainy so we're going into the fall season so now it's just rain rain rain rain rain but whatever we can deal with that. How are things going? Things are pretty busy with me. Last week was my first full week back at work after my six week half sabbatical ended. And man that was tough... The good news is that I was able to finish all of the high cognitive load stuff so the really difficult stuff that's all done.
And then over the course of the last week as we were kicking off this new project that I'm going to be managing that's going to be really interesting and intense and difficult but I'm excited about it. But at the same time I was pushing at night to try and finish what I didn't manage to finish over the sabbatical. So that was exhausting! And I ended up sleeping until noon today because I was just unbelievably tired ...could barely keep my thoughts straight and could barely string together a sentence level of tired... but the good news is that I finished everything! I finished all the interior content for book 5! That's done! It's done! There is obviously more to do, I'm doing a lot of back-and-forth with my designer, but finishing that aspect gave me the confidence to move to the next step.
So the next step is kickstarter! And I'm aiming now to have everything ready to go to launch early November. That's really frickin' soon as you can tell... So if you're excited about the Kickstarter, if you're looking for the Kickstarter, stay calm! We're going to be having a lot more information and a lot more announcements the closer we get to it but right now my goal is to be ready to go November/ early November.
I had a wonderful meeting with my printer on Friday which went super well. It's a new printer for me but I'm really excited about their capabilities; I'm really excited about what they bring to the table and the advantages that they offer, so I'm stoked to be working with them. The meeting went way better than I could've hoped for and I came out with a bunch of new design options and print options so I'm going to be using that information to set up my kickstarter tiers. And otherwise-- (Trevor sneezing the background)-- otherwise I've got a lot of quotes in from a lot of different people on various things that I need for the kickstarter. So it was just going out and trying to get a lot of information and now I need to bring those numbers back and start to make some really hard-core spreadsheets.
So that's the situation right now. Today I'm going to be focused on the cover and back cover for book 5 which is one of the last missing pieces of art that I need to produce and it's obviously a big important one. So that's going to be most of today and probably some tomorrow as well as the comic update I'll need to do.
And next week I'm going to launch a big sale on my website. So if you're missing any of the books-- books 1, 2 or 3 watch out for that. I'll announce it here as well as a few other places, but I will announce it here. And there will be some good discounts available because if you are missing some of the books I think it's going to be better for all involved if you buy them now. You'll get them faster and it'll be less confusing for everyone so I'm gonna be offering a significant discount to incentivize that. Yeah! That's pretty much all I have to say.
I just got back from submitting my absentee ballot, I'm a dual citizen US and Canada so I decided to vote this year. I haven't voted in the US Federal in a couple years the last time I did was the second time Bush got elected. After that I'm like "I need a break..." but this election seemed really important and I wanted to leverage a privilege that I have and that is being able to vote in two jurisdictions and so I decided to go and do it. It took me a little bit of time to research the candidates in my my home jurisdiction because obviously I haven't been around there for a long time and I didn't really know what was going on, but I got that done, I'm pretty confident in the people that I voted for, so I'm happy! That's done! And now all we have to do-- like the rest of you-- I have to sit and hold my breath and wait and see what comes out of it. So that's pretty much it. Yeah. I gotta get to work. It's been a slow start today because I slept in. So I will let you go and thanks so much for sticking with me for all this time. More and more content is gonna be coming down the line so stay tuned for lots of patron updates and we'll see you on the internet. Have a good one!
