April Roundup! (Patreon)

Hey everyone, it's April! Very exciting to see some friends around the world getting their vaccine, but here in BC it's still lockdown-city. So I'm soldiering on and just keeping it together. I've also needed to spend a lot of time this month dealing with Very Serious Professionals on a range of different personal matters, so you'll notice that my updates are a bit delayed/spotty but I'm working hard to get back on top of things :)

The photo above is a little landscape study -- environments is something that I have been trying to improve for awhile, but colour remains an enduring mystery to me. The main purpose of this exercise was to try and choose colours accurately (without using the eyedropper tool on the reference at left.) It's very tricky to try and see what a colour is  and not what you think it should be.

Shenzhen Fast continues, this month I posted pages 11, 12, 13 and 14 which are all about how PCBs are made. We'll be seeing more pages this month!

At this level we're gonna be working on the Career Zine for awhile (with other fun stuff thrown in here and there). I posted the last of the pencils, and the first of the inks! So exciting to be able to draw all your lovely cattes into this comic :)

I wrote a detailed post about my artistic learning goals, as well as a study of Gradient Maps. I also posted a vlog - with a timelapse of Career Zine pencils, where I talk about about My Pandemic Experience. 

$10 The LAB

This month in the lab I posted a Brand New Exclusive short story. It's a science fiction (prose) piece about digital twins and getting fired... it's called The Twin (Inverted)

We're back in action recording podcasts, yay! Newly released is our book-club review of Slaughterhouse Five , and Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me. Two highly recommended books! Next up for us will be Sex Criminals (by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky), Meal (by Blue Deliquanti and Soleil Ho), with perhaps a guest feature thrown in for good measure. Who wants to read some Emily Carroll.... ? :)

Jam IRL...

The bloss popped in Vancouver this past few weeks so I've been biking around a lot to snap pictures of them. They're gorgeous in this city and it's so nice to get out and enjoy nature after a long winter being cooped up inside.
