Flashback Cringetober (Patreon)

So as I mentioned in the past my pandemic hobby is to go through my old sketchbooks and rebind them into something smaller. Which, honestly is going ok! You can see the pile of bound books there with Temari for scale. It's already a SIGNIFICANT reduction in volume which is great. 

Recently I came across this prompt list called "Cringetober"

Now, I'm not a fan of "cringe". I'm in the "never apologize for something that once brought you joy" camp. But... I took a look at this list and thought "hm, wait how many of these could I hit JUST with what's in these sketchbooks?"

And friends, the answer is "basically  most of it". Everything but (mysteriously??) heterochromia. Let's go on a journey. 

2. "Animal ears"

oh man, honestly take your pick. Most of my characters have cat ears. I mean... to this day. I love drawing cat ears it's the best??

3."2000s Alt fashion"

Arm socks!!! Man I miss arm socks to be honest. 

4. Glomping

So there's two I pulled for this, and neither of them are strictly glomping, but they are based on period memes so I think they get the spirit.

No meme template because meme templates weren't a thing yet.

7. Victorian Fashion

I believe this steampunk lady was part of an art trade but I'd say it counts.

8. Just Standing There

I don't think this one quite captures the spirit of the prompt (since it's a reference sheet, basically), but I have plenty in my older files that do. 

9. A lot of belts

Just... so many! This character's name was 'Monty' at the time. It also counts for Blue Hair as you can see.

11. Impractical Weapon

I love knives and swords so my old OC had to have a LOT of knives and swords and I loved it, I loved every minute of it hahaha I would still draw this if I thought I could get away with it. 

12. Demon OC

I think this is an OC? It might have been part of a collab project but I'm still counting it. Also I think it's a dragonborn rather than specifically a demon but honestly... close enough. 

13. The outfit looks cool... in theory.

What do you like better, the two-skirts-over-pants look, or the brace thing that would prevent you from flying...? AND blue hair! AND cat ears! And yet... I still really like this drawing lol

14. I'm not a furry but...

This character was named Joshua and he was a pirate in this surrealist kinda thing that was like the Little Prince? His partner was a zombie who had a dimensional portal in his eye, it was strange and I kinda wish I had developed it more. 

15. Stoic Legolas Expy

From what I understand this is supposed to mean "stoic expression" and I think it fits the bill. This was an art trade, I dug up the coloured one just for fun 

[skipping a few... I don't really know what plot contrivance means, no MS paint in a sketchbook, trust that I had MANY Sonic OCs, tumblr wasn't a thing in 2005]

This OC was named Tarin, she was posessed by a demon and was like... a techno sorceress?

I'm kind of surprised 'Chibi' wasn't on the list. I drew sooooooooo many chibis, here's one I like haha
