Great news everyone! Last night I finished the watercolours on the last page of Swan Song, so that project is now COMPLETE! ✨💯 I'm really relieved because it's going out on time and I can now focus on other things :)

Here's a preview of page 4...

There were a lot of really complex backgrounds to ink in this project, which was an interesting new challenge for me. As you know I like to keep my backgrounds, um... limited. I find them very intimidating! So it was a new experience to ink for someone who really digs into background work.

Jonathon was able to come over to visit last night and showed me some of the colour work he's finished so far:

I really like how he chose to make the main character's hair colour blue (and then having that fade out over time as the comic progressed.) It's only a short story, but it covers a long period of time and I thought that was a really clever way to show progression of time! He also selected a muted pastel pallete for the colours which I think contrasts really well with the vibrant watercolours I was using for "music".

Here's Jon hard at work :) (you can see his pallete key next to him which I think is a really interesting trick for planning out a marker comic).

With this wrapping up I'm really glad to know that I've finished two projects that were in line with my goal of "short, collaborative stories".  Jon pointed out in conversation yesterday that a lot of collaborations don't work out for a wide number of reasons, so I'm extra pleased to have completed two successfully. l learned a lot, but I don't think I'll jump into another inking project soon. I REALLY miss working on my own shorts and  that's what I'll be diving into next.

I'm not allowed to share full pages from this story unfortunately... Swan Song will be going up on Kickstarter by the end of the month! Thanks everyone! :D
