I think it was a pretty disappointing finale but then again, the show was never that great for me. It mostly felt like a lesser version of The Boys. It definitely seemed like they sandwiched in Homelander just to provide fan service and remind people hey, this is in the Boys' universe. Plus the after credits scene, what was the point? Just to show Butcher. The episode was the second shortest after #6. It definitely felt like it for this one, because they didn't get very far in their goal. They just went from one bad situation to another.

I liked the meta joke in the middle of the episode: Sam and Emma burst into the actors' studio and have an emotional dialogue there (well done, both of them, btw). The actors' studio is where people showcase their monologues, dialogues and other types of scenes, which is precisely what the *actors* playing Sam and Emma did there. :-) I was half expecting an extra layer to the joke. The director dude could have been hiding behind the seats during the dialogue, then being impressed by the "performance", he could have perked up after Sam was gone and offered Emma a movie role (which was her ambition all along)! I think it's important to remember that many the supe students don't have combat powers. Especially those who were in the acting class, they were all probably in the Entertainment track at Godolkin. We also know that in practice, supes are not really encouraged to show any selfless heroism. Taking everything together, I'm not surprised that most of them panicked and decided to just run away. Overall, I think this season was well executed and I'm curious to see what will come next for Gen V.
