Can you believe Eric Wallace wrote this episode?? How can he write this masterpiece, which is easily one of the best episodes in the show and then give us the rest of the season??

I mean, this' just what happens when he doesn't force insert the shows many side characters into a story. Whenever Eric writes stories specifically centered on Barry, he does a good job. He just rarely centers his stories on Barry in a way like this one did.

Man. This is probably my favorite episode of the season and easily in my top 5 of the entire show. As someone who wanted the show to revisit the events of Nora's murder post Crisis since season 6, because things changed so much historically on Earth-Prime and because I wanted the true future Flash suit present in that scene, instead of an artificially brightened season 1 suit, this episode makes me so unbelievably giddy. As for what all happened the night of Nora's murder pre-Crisis, I actually made a compilation of all the events on my own youtube channel, cause nobody seemed to have actually done so before. At least not using all the scenes in the right order. I cut all the scenes we had gotten up until season 5, when we last saw any new snipbits of that night, to make it as coherent as one can make 5 different scenes, with different tempos, scenic tone and also different music (that was a nightmare). The entire sequence is like 10 minutes long and in parts a bit clunky cause some scenes simply weren't made to fit together but I actually kinda like it. I can't remember, if there were any rules in regards to external links to stuff, but if you want, you can check it out https://youtu.be/hlJ6yRlGhng As for the post-Crisis events of Nora's murder, events seem to have gotten more streamlined. Barry and Thawne don't time jump from 2024 directly into the night, which also affected some dialogue, mainly Thawne's talk with Gideon after he kills Nora. Pre-Crisis Nora and Barry aren't present anymore, same with the Barry who created Flashpoint and Flashpoint Thawne who later went on to Legends of Tomorrow season 2. Also some people have the believe that the Flash who fights Thawne is still the Future Flash from Thawne's original timeline and not our Barry just because they reused footage from episode 1x17 when we first saw the fight between Flash and RF from their perspective. To anyone who does want to make that point, let me shut that down right now. The Flash from the original Earth-1 timeline never existed, post-Crisis. That Flash is from an alternate future of Earth-1, not Earth-Prime. We know ever since season 3, that time travel does not affect different earths of the multiverse. On Earth-Prime it was always our Barry who fought Thawne and saved his younger self. The events from the 2024 newspaper never happened on this earth in any timeline. As you can see, I'm very passionate about this. This episode did a phenomenal job with showing how Barry came to fight Reverse Flash. There were a bunch of Arrowverse and also a couple comic references, like Martin Stein, Christina McGee and Singh had his hair and beard from the comics. I also love the use of themes from season 1, mainly that they reused the theme from when Barry talked to his mother just before she died, when present Barry saw Nora and Henry across the street. Also another great use of Reverse Flash's theme when he and Flash go at it in the living room. Very interested to see what's going on with Eddie. Some people have actually managed to get a good look at the name on his ID-Batch and it says Malcolm *******, which is a neat reference to Malcolm Thawne, who was Barry's brother in the comics and the original Cobalt Blue. Also so grateful they got Matt Letscher back. He is to me still the definitive live action Eobard Thawne and the way he slipped back into the role so easily this episode just confirmed that again. The first interaction between him and Barry in this episode is top notch. Same incredible dynamic as the one they had in the season 3 premiere. You can actually see all that hatred between the two in their eyes alone. Finally, after years of Barry dreading and trying to prevent the events of this night, he is mentally at a point where he is the one who makes that night happen. Barry found his inner peace this episode. The night which tortured him for 23 years and Eobard Thawne of all people is the reason Barry's finally is at peace with what happens. I honestly did not think the show could deliver on my expectations for this episode, but I think it may've actually surpassed them a bit. Easily in my top 5 episodes, if not maybe even my favorite episode of the entire show. I could gush about it for alot longer but I'm pretty sure at this point you'll be glad if this comment ends, cause reading through my thoughts as they present themselves to me, is plenty exhausting, even for me. Onto episode 11, where there is significantly less to talk about.

In an earlier episode, I mentioned I came into this season only wanting 2 things. The first was more Barry and Iris. The second was revisiting the night in 2000. I am so happy they revisited it! This became one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. I would've been so upset had they not brought this integral moment to the show to a full circle. Matt Letscher is so great at playing Thawne. He brings an intensity that is missing from the other one. Speaking of Thawne, this season should've had a Reverse Flash origin story that led up to this night. They referenced Thawne getting his powers, but we've should've seen it! Show us how Thawne grew from being a fan of Barry's to hating him. Show us battles between The Flash and Reverse Flash that led up to that night in 2000 (where Thawne decides to time travel and kill young Barry). Show us Thawne discovering The Flash's identity. I loved seeing Barry get another day with his parents. This episode really reinforced that the show's best moments are when the main focus is on Barry. Also, Grant's acting was really great in this episode. Even on rewatch, his acting brought tears to my eyes throughout the episode. The beginning of the episode just felt like they wanted to explain the time jump of 9 months and show where each character is 9 months later. Forgot to mention this last episode, but there was a limited Arrowverse 12-issue comic book series titled Earth-Prime that was released in 2022, prior to The Flash Season 9. In that series, Ramsay's escape is touched on. I haven't read it, but by looking it up, I see some issues focused on certain shows. The shows covered were Batwoman, Superman & Lois, Legends of Tomorrow, Stargirl, and The Flash. Also, in reference to my previous comment on meeting Stephen, thankfully it was at a con prior to his strike comments.

Like I said last episode, cant wait to see your reaction to this one. At the time of this episode, everyone knew Matt was coming back, just didnt know for what episode. I laugh at how so many people after episode 9 just were automatically calling that episode the best of the season & insisting there was no way the show could top it given their recent track record...... then the very next episode they get this. So many people had to eat their words. I know you've done 11 & 12 already, so I guess I can comment a bit on those, to say that this was definitely the peak of this story. Not to say the rest are trash, but this was far & away the best episode of the season.

60 Seconds into the episode and I’m being flooded with Blue. White roses turning blue, blue tones all over house, blue suit, shirt and tie. He eats a blue berry. Even the song he was humming is “I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues”. It was a good episode. I liked the full circle they completed here with Barry’s origin story.

Man, just imagine if the quality for the rest of the season was like episode 10. It would completely redeem the rest of the season for me and end up ending on a very high note. I havent watched the series finale yet but i dont think it can outdo this episode. I even heard grant wasnt that happy that he wasnt involved in the next couple episodes that much which just makes me wonder what eric was thinking. Like i understand episode 11, it was taking place at the same time as episode 10 but 12 has NO excuse.

I haven't watched the next episodes so I'm basing these thoughts only on this episode. I think that the "fixing of the timeline" the guy possessing joe was talking about is supposed to be related to the original flash back in season 1. The flash was originally struck by lightning in 2020 or something, but because of Thawne it was sped up to 2014 leaving huge gaps in the timeline. For example, how is that Barry supposed to save his younger self if he doesn't exist anymore. So blue guy teleported our Barry to that night in order to correct it. Also the thing you said about Barry's message was related to Savitar. Because they stopped him in the S3 finale, future Barry doesn't need to send that message anymore. Would be cool if they did tho. Anyways this episode was trippy and I love it!
